Not to be pedantic, but given that she was Italian, shouldn't her name be Maria? Her father was a Filippo, not a 'Philippe', after all... On a more serious note, I believe she is better known as 'Maria'. Gioland71 01:19, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marie Taglioni is correct -- she was born is Sweden to a Swedish mother -- and is the overwhelming choice if you compare "Marie Taglioni" - Maria with "Maria Taglioni" - Marie on Google. Robert Greer 22:47, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Death[edit]

Both http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Marie_Taglioni and http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/580316/Marie-Taglioni give her date of death as April 24, 1884 but we have April 22. Which is correct? --TrogWoolley (talk) 09:26, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As does the Dictionary of National Biography here. I suggest to change the date unless better sources are provided, despite User:Taglioni123's claim from 22 February 2015. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 11:22, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've done some more checking in reference books and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Ballet says Taglioni died on 22nd April but Cyril Beaumont in Complete Book of Ballet says 27th April. I'm even more confused. --TrogWoolley (talk) 18:29, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
