Welcome to my talk page. Feel free to criticize me thoroughly. Thank you.

I took the liberty of putting you in the Duke University Wikipedians category. Since an informal community had already developed around the Duke page, I thought I might as well formalize it. Cheers, JTM

Thanks for uploading Image:Perkins library duke.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Until a more informative tag is provided, it will be listed as {{no source}} or {{no license}}. Could you add a better tag to let us know its source and/or copyright status? If you made the image yourself, an easy way to deal with this is add {{GFDL}} if you're willing to release it under the GFDL. Alternatively, you could release all rights to it by adding {{NoRightsReserved}}. This would allow anyone to do whatever they wish with your image, without exceptions. However, if it isn't your own image, you need to specify what free license it was distributed under. You can find a list of the tags here. If it was not distributed under a free license, but you claim fair use, add {{fairuse}} but you need to substantiate your claim by explaining why you think it's fair use. If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images by posting to my talk page. If you do this, I can tag them for you. Thanks. RedWolf July 8, 2005 07:11 (UTC)

Name change[edit]

Hi. Your request for a name change was rejected. I've pasted the response here. If you ahve any questions please leave them on my talk page. Thanks. Secretlondon 21:22, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have been told by another user that my username, 卫weizhe哲 could be problematic because of the Chinese characters, so I am requesting a name change to simply "WeiZhe". Also, is it possible to merge User:Gregw824 with this new profile? I wasn't smart and created a new profile. Thanks. 卫weizhe哲 12:17, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This is me to prove I am also User:Gregw824. If the two can't be merged, no problem, thanks. Gregw824 12:31, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
We can only move your account to a name that has never been used. I presume you still want your edits moved from

卫weizhe哲 to WeiZhe - I will attempt this but it may fail because of the chinese characters. Secretlondon 21:05, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In fact I won't because you have 13 edits on 卫weizhe哲 and many more on Gregw824. The greg account also predates the 卫weizhe哲 one by about 9 months. Secretlondon 21:18, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dukewestcampus.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jaranda wat's sup 01:04, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Working on a Duke Community Wiki[edit]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aerialdukewest.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aerialdukewest.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Eastcampussketch.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Eastcampussketch.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Duke University Newspaper, The Chronicle, on Duke Wikipedia Page[edit]

Hi there! I apologize in advance if this is the incorrect way to communicate with you, but I've never used "talk" before. I'm a rising sophomore at Duke University and am writing an article for the paper on Duke's Wikipedia page, and I had noticed you had edited that article. I was just wondering why you edited the page, if you have any affiliation with the University, and any and all comments you may have regarding the page. Feel free to reach me here, via email: haa3@duke.edu , or via AIM: haahaamagician . Thank you very much! Haahaamagician (talk) 18:27, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Braxtoncraven.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Braxtoncraven.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:02, 21 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:02, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please claim your upload(s): File:Perkins library duke.jpg[edit]

Hi, This media was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices,

However, due to changes in the copyright situation in some jurisdictions, there is a need to ensure media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed. It would be appreciated if you were able to confirm that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, Fully completeing the {{information}} block, and leaving an acknowledgement on the file description page to indicate that you've accepted the license shown (and updated the {{information}} accordingly. If you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created here.

If the {{img-unclaimed}} tag is present, please update it to {{img-claimed}} if you have carried out the steps noted above.
If the {{Media by uploader}} tag is present, please add |claimed=yes to the tag, if you have carried out the steps noted above.

If you don't want to keep your media on English Wikipedia, please nominate it for deletion under Criteria G7 of the Criteria for Speedy deletion ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:47, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Perkins library duke.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Perkins library duke.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
