Thanks for fixing the resolution link on Cut-elimination theorem --- Charles Stewart 08:55, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

Hi Vipul,

I have nominated the category you created, Category:Topological space properties, to be moved to Category:Properties of topological spaces, which is less ambiguous, and also sounds better to my ear. For the latter reason I think Category:Group properties should also be moved to Category:Properties of groups. --Trovatore 16:22, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Vipul! I noticed your mathematics page on Quotientable automorphism. I have an A in Precalculus, and plan to take Calculus I, but even through your article is very detailed, remember that Wikipedia isn't just for smart mathematicians like you! (God knows the world needs a lot more!) Let's work together and fix it up!

RelentlessRouge 01:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, Vipul! I'm glad to see you editing Wikipedia on such higher-level math! And yes, I totally understand your comment about that topic probably defaultly unaccessible to most readers. However, we at Wikipedia at least try to make them accessible, or at least give the general person the impression that we tried, but failed... =) Well, I can't help you much with my limited knowledge of math, but let's try ( =) ) to work on it together!

Thanks and request for help[edit]

Hey, you did a wonderful job with the Spark Capital page. Really nicely done. Would you be interested in helping create a page for a company that Spark Capital invested in, called Socratic.org. They are a community for teachers and students online and they'd like to have a Wikipedia presence.

Need help on disambig of variety[edit]

I'm working on disambigs of variety, and I'm having problems with Finitely approximable group and Critical group. None of the entries in variety seem to match. If you could either add an entry to variety explaining the use in group theory, or leave comments on my talk page on what I should do, I would appreciate it. thanks. Thanks for the quick response. Simon12 03:12, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vipul. Do you think VMC, a coaching institute deserves a wikipedia mention? By the same token, every shop deserves one. Buntygill 13:15, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

T6 spaces[edit]

Are perfectly normal (Hausdorff) spaces also called T6? The redirect T6 space that you (apparently) created certainly implies so; I haven't seen this, but it would make perfect sense. If so, then this fact should be added to Separation axiom and (at the very least!) to Normal space (the target of the redirect). —Toby Bartels 09:32, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Category:Coaching institutes for IIT-JEE (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. mitcho/芳貴 08:28, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Supercompact space, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Supercompact space was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Supercompact space, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Wikipedia's Expert Peer Review process (or lack of such) for Science related articles[edit]

Hi - I posted the section with the same name on my talk page. Could you take part in discussion ? User: Shotwell suggested (on my talk page) "I would endorse a WP:EXPERTADVICE page that outlined the wikipedia policies and goals for researchers in a way that enticed them to edit here in an appropriate fashion. Perhaps a well-maintained list of expert editors with institutional affiliation would facilitate this sort of highly informal review process. I don't think anyone would object to a well-maintained list of highly-qualified researchers with institutional affiliation (but then again, everyone seems to object to something)." We could start with that if you would agree ... - could you help to push his idea through Wikipedia bureaucracy ? Cheers, Apovolot (talk) 15:46, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Family automorphism, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Family automorphism. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RDBury (talk) 21:01, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is India at the International Mathematical Olympiad. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/India at the International Mathematical Olympiad. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:15, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on GiveDirectly requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. RationalWiki[edit]

You started up the RationalWiki page but still have not put in any sources showing WP:Notability or in fact any WP:Secondary source at all. Every reference seems to be to the site itself. Please see WP:ELOFFICIAL about how much can be gleamed from them if it isn't a WP:Reliable source except for a passing mention in LA Times. Blogs are not normally reliable sources. I have therefore reverted it to a redirect. Dmcq (talk) 23:51, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. I've kept a copy in my user space, so I can revive the article if and when notability is established. Vipul (talk) 01:08, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Bleeding-heart libertarianism has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems like an attack page to me, or at least poorly titled.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. License tagging for File:Thiel Fellowship Logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thiel Fellowship Logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Orphaned non-free media (File:Thiel Fellowship Logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thiel Fellowship Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:20, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you repeated the same text I reverted earlier from the Bryan Caplan biography. The text you are bringing forward is based on Caplan's own writings. What you need to establish significance in his career is to base your additions on WP:SECONDARY sources. If Caplan writes something and nobody responds, it is not significant. Conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Vipul. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bryan Caplan, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. With your addition of a blog post written by Vipul, you have established your conflict of interest in any topic having to do with Caplan. Please restrict yourself to forms of editing which are allowed by the WP:COI guideline. Binksternet (talk) 19:35, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Passion Capital requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheLongTone (talk) 15:14, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Jane Street Capital, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://studentinternships.com.au/janestreet.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Deletion discussion about Jane Street Capital[edit]

Hello, Vipul,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Jane Street Capital should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jane Street Capital .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, scope_creep 17:18, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Timeline of Airbnb[edit]

The article Timeline of Airbnb has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Entirely unecessary, all content would be better in Airbnb, if not eyewateringly trivial or already there.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Your contributed article, Timeline of PayPal[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Timeline of PayPal. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – PayPal. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at PayPal – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. TheLongTone (talk) 15:31, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Anthony Gregory[edit]

Hello Vipul. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Anthony Gregory".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Anthony Gregory}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. C679 06:37, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

page views[edit]

Hi Vipul, i read your blogpost (and the mailinglist discussion), very interesting. I made a little info collection about Wikipedia page views too at de:Benutzer:Atlasowa/Abrufstatistik (very messy and german, sorry). I agree "It’s still a mystery" ;-) My best shot is this: There are several factors (no specific order) and their impact is unclear:

  • (1) mobile traffic replacing desktop traffic (and mobile traffic less intensive, shorter reading sessions)
  • (2) Google Knowledge graph stealing Wikipedia traffic
  • (3) Wikipedia page views data is really messy. My favorite Wikipedia anecdote: In February 2013 a Swedish user asked Wikitech for Page view stats we can believe in, meaning page views that are made by humans: "Last quote I got (in April?) is that overall 40% of traffic is bot related. That could be more now. And it's far more for smaller projects, and for link-intensive Wiktionary, and for those languages of Wikipedia that create articles by bots, such as Dutch, Swedish, Vietnamese and Volapük. This bot-created article about a spider Acantheis variatus "has been viewed 12 times in the last 30 days", but only by bots? Bots creating articles and bots reading them, what a joke! And they are creating articles about spiders!" :-)) (Wikitech-l: Page views, Apr 2012; Wikitech-l: Bots create page views, Aug 2012)
  • (4) Transparent Caching by ISPs may be another unknown factor

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Proposed deletion of GreatNonprofits[edit]

Hi Vipul, I proposed deleting GreatNonprofits, which is one of the articles you've created. It just doesn't seem to have achieved a Wikipedia level of notability. Others have also expressed concern about notability. If you disagree, let's talk! Vectro (talk) 22:04, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Form 1099-MISC, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Medicare and Social Security. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A tag has been placed on Users:JesseClifton/Timeline of animal rights and welfare requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

Speedy deletion nomination of B visa in lieu of other visas[edit]

Hello Vipul,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged B visa in lieu of other visas for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, B visa.

Updates to the VillageReach article[edit]

Hello! I saw that you are the creator and primary editor on the VillageReach entry. I was wondering if you had any interest in working with me to update and expand some of the information? Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as H-1A visa. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:57, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's really considerate of you to detail the incentives and payments you are providing to the students working for you. It would be even more considerate if you would disclose the amounts you are receiving from the individuals whose pages they are editing and creating. You can provide it in timeline form. 88.128.80.31 (talk) 15:37, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't receive payment from people for creating Wikipedia pages. I fund the creation from my own personal funds. Neither I nor the people I pay contact Wikipedia page subjects to propose the creation of pages about them. Our contact with the subjects of the pages usually occurs only in cases where we want to have them go through pages and highlight any factual errors (after we have drafted it), but any feedback they give is only implemented if we can find reliable independent sources for the updated information. We have not done this (i.e., reached out to the subjects of pages, or been contacted by them) for any of the timeline pages. Vipul (talk) 17:00, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I should also add that I am looking into finding other co-sponsors for Wikipedia page editing in the longer run, but have not successfully raised co-sponsor money yet. When co-sponsors are obtained, their names will be disclosed in the same location, and the degree of control they have over the selection of articles and payment amounts will also be included in the information. Vipul (talk) 17:07, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I came across your work via the recent edit made to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation by someone that you paid. The edit was very good, it was a new table about their funding: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Melinda_Gates_Foundation#Funds_for_grants_in_developing_countries
I am wondering what your area of interest is? I have created the Wikiproject Sanitation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sanitation) and am also looking for sponsors for Wikipedia editing (in the context of development cooperation, awareness raising). The article Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:55, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Articles sponsored / edited by you[edit]

Hi

With reference to previous discussions, I find that my inherent rights as a consumer and a reader of Wikipedia to be properly informed about my consumer choices, ie. prominently 'in article' about the paid/sponsored status of these articles, are not still being complied with despite considerable local community discussion.

Notwithstanding local community, since you and/or your paid-editor/workers are/were required by WMF ToU and local law(s) to provide additional disclosure or refrain from paid advocacy editing altogether, please share your thoughts on how my consumer rights under WMF's ToU along with those of all the other estimated 36 million registered internet consumers of Wikipedia can be speedily assured in the case of your sponsored articles. I am particularly concerned that apparently 27 million of Wikipedia's 36 million registered users are from the United States of America - (sourced: from the Chinese language Wikipedia).

Hence, I suggest that we expeditiously evolve a template to place at the head of all articles edited by you and your workers involving conflicted editing.

Conflicted editing, eg. "That said, as general background, deceptive business practices, such as concealing a professional affiliation, are prohibited in many jurisdictions".

For reference link - By Geoff Brigham, Wikimedia Foundation, June 16th, 2014

  • If you are paid to edit, other rules beyond the Terms of Use may also apply. Specific policies on individual Wikimedia projects, or relevant laws in your country (such as those prohibiting fraudulent advertising), may require further disclosure or prohibit paid advocacy editing altogether. Details on the legal issues and risk associated with undisclosed paid advocacy editing may be found in this FAQ.

A highly promotional article on an unremarkable private company. Sections include "The People": "Coinfloor is a team with experience in bitcoin, security, analytics, technology and financial services", etc, while the lead discusses company's "commitment to user security and user asset protection". While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Spam blacklisting[edit]

Are you aware that sites that you and/or the people working for you added as citations and external links in Wikipedia articles, are being added to the spam blacklist and removed from articles? It's basically a form of well poisoning. See, e.g., Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Nolo.com, MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#econlib.org, MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/March_2017#Immigration_law_refspam_round_3, and MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#visajourney.com. People (especially User:JzG) are assuming that if you or your people added links to those sites, it means that the owners of those sites were trying to spam Wikipedia for pecuniary gain.

It seems that either people haven't read #Paid_editing_2, or they don't believe what you wrote there, because they're still saying you were after some SEO-related goal that's harmful to Wikipedia. N I H I L I S T I C (talk) 02:21, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit intersection with Ethanbas[edit]

Given the previous history of concerns regarding edit coordination and paid editing, is it really advisable for you to be co-editing articles such as Media Rating Council and Bitcoin Cash with Ethanbas? VQuakr (talk) 01:38, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I only created the basic stubs. Vipul later independently came and edited them. So I wouldn't call it "co-editing". Ethanbas (talk) 01:48, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Mkay. So the edit intersections were due to random chance? VQuakr (talk) 02:12, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Most likely, Vipul saw me posting the articles I create on my user page (like I suspect some other people do, like Softlavender), and decided to write something for those pages. Ethanbas (talk) 03:29, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

August 2017[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Family Fairness a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Updates to Silicon Valley Community Foundation[edit]

Hello User:Vipul. I work with Silicon Valley Community Foundation and see that you are the editor who created the initial page about the organization back in 2013. I know I cannot make edits to the page myself since I have a COI, but was wondering if you might have some time and the desire to help with some updates. Since the page primarily covers the history of the organization, I would like to consider adding something about what we currently do. Below is some content about a few SVCF initiatives/programs, along with properly formatted sources. Would you be able to review the content to see if it is suitable to add to the article? I would greatly appreciate it. I may have a few more updates soon, including a better version of our logo. Thank you and best ChauSVCF (talk) 22:17, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Grantmaking and partnerships

LatinXCEL Fund In May of 2021, The Silicon Valley Community Foundation in partnership with the Castellano Family Foundation started the LatinXCEL Fund to provide grants to Latinx-led, and Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in Silicon Valley. 2021 grant recipients include the Alliance for Youth Achievement, the California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice, Opera Cultura, Nuestra Casa de East Palo Alto and the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley (LCSV).[1] https://www.insidephilanthropy.com/home/2021/11/15/the-latinxcel-fund-is-serving-a-big-need-in-silicon-valley-heres-where-its-first-grants-are-going

Community Advisory Council In October of 2020, Silicon Valley Community Foundation launched a Community Advisory Council that includes a panel of 22 Bay Area members representing local nonprofit organizations. The council oversees the implementation of SVCF’s goal to focus on local vulnerable populations such as low-income households, immigrants, and communities of color.[2]

The Big Lift Launched in 2012, The Big Lift is a public-private partnership of San Mateo County, the San Mateo County Office of Education, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The objective of the program is improving literacy among San Mateo County children. In July of 2021, the program received $1 million in state funding. As of that same year, The Big Lift had served more than 10,000 children.[3]
