Sections[edit]

I feel like the sections Early years, From Hamburg to Italy, In London and Later years should all go under a section Life--Harald Jõgi (talk) 14:27, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

German?[edit]

Handel died in 1759. Germany did not exist before 1871. He should be correctly described as "Prussian-British", not "German-British". Mjroots (talk) 08:08, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

German is not meant as nationality but cultural background. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:54, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
According to that criterion, there would be no Germans at all before 1871 and no Italians before 1861, and the Polish people did not exist between 1795 and 1919! Wikipedia shouldn't work that way. AnonMoos (talk) 12:09, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, a footnote should be provided stating what "German" means, and that his nationality was Prussian-British. Mjroots (talk) 07:19, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, that s commonly understood for Bach, Beethoven, Goethe ... - I won't clutter all these thousands of articles. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:26, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Judas Maccabaeus and Joshua - no mention in text?[edit]

I find it weird, especially as the former was quite influential at the time, considering the historical context, as well as successful, not to mention See, the Conqu'ring Hero Comes!. Also the change Handel made to his subscribers method, and so on. 109.186.62.209 (talk) 08:27, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So please add it, with good sources, of course. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:58, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
