Conas atá tú?[edit]

How's it going? Welcome to Wikipedia(if you haven't been welcomed already). I notice you have a bun-leibhéal of Gaeilge. If you didn't know, there's a wikipedia in Irish too, ga, it would be great if you could come over and help us with articles. We're just a tad bit under-staffed at the moment with about 2 and a half active members. It doesn't matter about your level of Irish, come on and create articles and we'll clean them up for you at a later date. You could start with adding years, they're easy to translate from English without making too many mistakes and they really help the number of articles. You might also want to check the Irish wikipedians notice board WP:IWNB for Irish wikipedians. Bí ann.- Dalta 17:26, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

:)[edit]

Thanks for the greeting! However I don't think my level of Gaeilge is near good enough to start contribution to ga.wikipedia.org. However, I do have a friend in college doing Computational Linguistics and Irish, who is, like most modern Irish speakers, very enthusiastic about the language and its revival. He is also rather adept with computers and I think he would take wikipedia seriously and become a frequent contributor, so I'll certainly pass this message onto him.

Wow, that would really be great, we could certainly use another acitve member of the wiki. And, despite your lack of Gaeilge, you could certainly help in added categories or just creating stub articles for others to correct or lengthen. Anyway, enjoy your wiki-ing.- Dalta 20:10, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006[edit]

Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 19:38, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ventolin[edit]

If you have a spare minute, would you be able to cast a glance over Martyn, see if it needs help via your advertised skills. It would be appreciated, as I would like to turn this into a feature article. Cheers, Fergananim 19:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of sysop bit.[edit]

It was over a controversy regarding the block of Nathanrdotcom, which resulted in the temporary departure of myself and the permanent departure of Sergeant Snopake. It was voluntary, preventive, and I could get the powers back by the "back door" at any time. But RFA is much better :) Will (Tell me, is something eluding you, Sunshine?) 22:20, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Perhaps if I can't even edit my own user page, I don't deserve to edit an encyclopedia. --Cody.Pope 09:11, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Ireland email list[edit]

Hi Ventolin:

I just wanted to let you know that we've started a new Ireland Wikimedian email list, that you can join, at mail:WikimediaIE. For Wikimedians in Ireland and Wikimedians interested in events in Ireland and efforts in Ireland. It's there to to discuss meetups, partnerships with Museums and National Archives and any other similar events. --Bastique demandez 22:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kehrwoche[edit]

The poor translation had been identified by other editors as having issues, and it wasn't clear to me why it was notable, especially as it seems to be treated as a joke. However, I've restored the text on the assumption that you can tidy it up and make it clearer why it's notable, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:30, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
