A list of all the U.S.A. states, with only their U.S. postal abbreviations, most commonly used by people living in the USA.

This list is NOT intended as an encyclopedia article and that's why it's on my personal pages. It is intended as a TOOL for people not from the USA and especially for people from "non English speaking countries".

It's important to know that often the capitals of the states, which have been ommited here on purpose, are often a lot smaller than the largest city in the state. That is one of the very reasons why there are no capitals in this list.

In addition to the this states, several other areas belong to or have associations with the United States. The only important one to remember is the next area:

  • DC District of Columbia. The District of Columbia has one city, Washington, which encomposes the entire area of DC. The city does not have state status, so it has no Congressional representation, but it does have three electoral votes. The city is the seat of the federal government.

Other areas who belong to or have associations with the United States:

(ultimate soveignty? if someone could explain me what the heck that means?)

REMARKS: The list in the U.S. state article was so excellently formatted that I took the freedom to make this copy on my personal pages, but then stripping down every not important away. The only thing that is important for non native English speakers is that they can recognize the state abreviations that are frequently used in user profiles, in chat rooms, etc., etc.

Also remember people from the USA often forget to add USA after the postal abreviation in their profile, which makes it kind of confusing for people from non-English speaking countries from all over the world. No offense meant!

Feel free to improve this text just like you'd improve a normal article. This text is licensed under the GNU FDL, so don't consider it as something that's part of my personal pages and feel free to improve it! (I say this because I suppose you would never have the idea of copying some fierce fight on the for example abortion article talk pages even it is officially under the GNU FDL.)

Hope no one considers this an illegal use of my personal wikipedia pages. For other countries see proper web pages. --71.110.56.97 00:18, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
