- The following paragraph is NOT ONLY for the "Nut (disambiguation)" page, but also applicable to other disambiguation pages, which might be for terms, which are also acronyms (abbreviations using just the first letter of the longer phrase). Please feel free to paste this text into other Wikipedia disambiguation pages' talk pages, where an acronym is also an item that can be disambiguated (with the correct replacement of the acronym that is applicable to those pages, of course). The acronym I was looking for was N U T S, which stands for Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (The acronym was generated from the French language for this phrase, ("Nomenclature des unités territoriales statistiques"), not the English language phrase.) I would like not to have to type N.U.T.S. to reach a redirect page to "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics", and not everyone would be able to remember the English phrase for it, because it has regularly been abbreviated as NUTS for a number of years now.

- So, it would be helpful to add the ALL-CAPITAL version of the acronym NUTS, to this disambiguation page, wouldn't it, and perhaps add a "redirected from: NUTS" link to the "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics" Wikipedia page (English). What follows is a related idea, but I have not verified whether it currently exists yet: Does Wikipedia ALSO have, "International Disambiguation Pages" - either as a separate category of Wikipedia page, or as a subcategory of the Wikipedia "Disambiguation" page? If there is already a category for "Cross-Country International Disambiguation Page" - which at this moment, I am assuming would just have a link to each country-specific Wikipedia database's disambiguation page for the term that needs disambiguating - then that "International Disambiguation Page" for the specific term (eg NUTS), can also be referenced on this English-version disambiguation page; AND the "International Disambiguation Page" - if it already exists - will have to be updated with a reference to this English-version disambiguation page (if there is not already a reference to this page on it). On a more humurous note: what will be necessary when Wikipedia expands to other planets? That's right: categories for "Cross-planetary Disambiguation Pages" will need to be added, and the non-earthling Wikipedia users will become more appreciative of Wikipedia's universal accessbility and appeal!

- But for the moment, it shall be quite sufficient to add the term "NUTS" to this disambiguation page, and suggest to Wikipedia some means for checking for an acronym by testing for ALL-CAPS (and not requiring a period after each letter; anyone would rather type "NUTS" into the Wikipedia search field, instead of "N.U.T.S.", because typing half the number of characters is just faster!). Since a capital letter has a different Unicode identification number from a lower-case character, I'm sure Wikipedia programmers could implement a search-capability that tests the term for being an acronym, when the term is entered as ALL-CAPS with-or-without-periods-between-letters. - If you like these ideas, start pasting them into disambiguating pages' talk-pages, and submit a suggestion to Wikipedia's programmers, too! Just remember to edit every occurrence of N U T S, N.U.T.S, "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics", and "Nomenclature des unit s territoriales statistiques" in these paragraphs, when cut-and-pasting these paragraphs into disambiguation pages for other words! - Thanks for making Wikipedia an even-better online encylopaedia, by helping with this! What if you are looking for someone with the surname "Nutt"? Kindly remove the stupid assumption that "nutt" must be a misspelling that should be dumped here, someone. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.30.112.12 (talk) 22:44, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please move this page to Nut (disambiguation) and Nut (fruit) to Nut. Whether you do so or not, the article for the hardware will remain at Nut (hardware). Any objections?? Please explain if you have any. 66.245.123.24 01:28, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)

  • It's not apparent that Nut (fruit) is what English speakers assume by the word "nut", given that they could equally well assume Nut (hardware). An equal-weight disambiguation seems better than a primary-topic one. Uncle G 13:57, 2005 Mar 24 (UTC)

"Nuts" is apparently said by a general MacAuliffe in WW2 1944- battle of the bulge, the general declining surrender. Dwarf Kirlston15:17, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

UPDATE: This is in fact not true. The authentic anecdote suggests that the general in fact said "eyar can I bust a NUT" to indicate that he did not wish to surrender. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.28.7.82 (talkcontribs) .

Where does the "nut" in dough nut come from? Could someone please explain? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.178.208.6 (talkcontribs) .

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. QueerFilmNerdtalk 23:48, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Remove nut (food) becuase it redirects to Nut (fruit) anyways.
