Pronunciation?[edit]

Maybe someone should put a pronunciation and not one of those weird symbol-like ones either. Something like (Khl-o-ee) except it should be for her last name. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.166.213.99 (talkcontribs).

The "weird symbol-like" transcription to which you refer is in fact the preferred method for representing pronunciation, both in Wikipedia, and in the wider linguistic community. It has the advantage of being unambiguous in a way in which your ad hoc method above is not. The unwillingness of any one person to learn to use the most recognized system of phonetic transcription in the world does not by any means indicate a pressing need for Wikipedia to employ an alternative to cater to you.
On a note more apropros of the pronunciation, neither of the citations supplieed give an indication of the stress marks indicated in the IPA transcriptions. Now, were I to hear Chloë use the pronunciation indicated, I'd accept in an instant that whatever pronunciation she preferred was to be used; however, no record of her pronouncing her own name, nor of any indication of the relevant stress, is to be found. Wanting that, I would suggest that, provisionally, the stress indicators should reflect the French, in which there is no lexical stress whatsoever. Therefore, absent an indication of Chloë pronouncing her own name with fixed lexical stress, I shall remove the spurious stress indicators in the IPA transcription.Ché (talk) 23:47, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well did you check YouTube? I found a clip of her on Letterman where it's mentioned here. Relevant part starts about 1:10 in. Tabercil (talk) 00:23, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Links[edit]

Removed one of the external links. It led to a porn site.--Kross 04:55, Mar 13, 2005 (UTC)

Surely we can change that image? Sherurcij 04:20, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

Ref number one http://www.theinsider.com/news/595017_Chloe_Sevigny leads to a webpage filled with innacurate informations... For exemple, the page claims that Gallo and her was involved rommantically before they make The Brown Bunny which turns out to be incorrect along other infos that are incorrect as well. Maybe we should think about removing this reference.--Patlalrique (talk) 16:04, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure she went to high school in Darien, CT[edit]

She did grow up in Darien, but not to nitpick--she couldn't have been born in Darien, because the town of Darien doesn't have a hospital. If she was born in a hospital (which I'd assume she was; if not, I'd figure that would be notable in and of itself) she would have to have been born in Norwalk or Stamford hospital.....or someplace else entirely. --guinevere34. 3/26/08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Guinevere34 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I remember she said she went to school in Darien, CT. She said she and her friends called it "Aryan Darien".

She was born and raised in Darien, Connecticut, she moved to NYC when she turned 18. thinkpad 02:34, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some dispute on where she was born [1] so there might be some cause to investigate. I came visiting to clean up some romanian stub pages and they have her (as does the Yahoo page referenced) as being born in Springfield, MA. TMLutas 22:05, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She was born in Darien, Connecticut. [2] [3] [4] They all say Darien is the place of her birth. thinkpad 04:33, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brown Bunny Scene[edit]

It has been alleged that the part of Vincent Gallo's, er, part was actually played by another of Sevigny's former boyfriends, A.R.E. Weapons singer Matt McAuley. (http://www.defamer.com/hollywood/movies/todays-random-rumor-stunt-penis-in-the-brown-bunny-020138.php)

The citations point to an website that says Vincent Gallo FIRED Dunst and Ryder, while the article claims they turned down roles.

Picture of her?????[edit]

This article needs a decent picture of her!! Anyone want to add a good one?? The article really needs some updating and a little more info, maybe 1 or 2 pictures would be a good start, agree? Jackp 15:20, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup??????[edit]

I've been working on this article for ages now, and was wondering why it still has the cleanup tag on the top of the page??? Does anyone have any suggestions for the page to make it better, a good non-copyright picture of Chloe might be good!!!! RaptorRobot 16:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

some things[edit]

her apartment/house was featured in home and garden in a rather big article, she was also on the cover. also she has a boyfriend who's in some band and they've been together for a quite a while iirc, i can't think of his name though. also brother paul owns a pretty well known club or restaurant in nyc, the name of that also excapes me. if i can source/confirm any of this i will add it. --Doinelita 19:23, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

personal life[edit]

Removed Jesse Richards' name from list of boyfriends. Mr. Richards doesn't know her- somebody was having some fun with him it would seem. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.192.189.251 (talk) 02:07, 9 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Added her to the catagory of American Roman Catholics.[edit]

about the fellation scene in a movie[edit]

The actress' article says it was real, whilst the movie article says it was a prosthetic penis. One got to be wrong. --Extremophile 16:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It looks a lot like mine, so I removed the 'fake penis' allegation, as it is clearly wrong. 201.19.218.191 11:33, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's some interesting reasoning. Sion 05:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
user 201.19.218.191 What ?!? This is totally unnaceptable in Wikipedia... We won't put the info back there because the prosthetic allegation is just allegation, but you can't write such thing citing your own organ as a reference. --Patlalrique (talk) 16:07, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"endured"?[edit]

"Although the film was endured by both critics and audiences..." Somehow I'm thinking that's not what you meant to say there. 67.71.93.83 (talk) 02:24, 18 February 2008 (UTC)freemount[reply]

LGBT?[edit]

"Hinted at" being bisexual does not satisfy WP:BLP. Unless a reliable, third-party source can be found to support her bisexuality, she should be removed from the category. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 02:39, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    • If the issue doesn't meet the requirements for inclusion in the category, then the section doesn't really belong in the article. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay or bisexual, it just seems that the section about sexuality belongs in a tabloid not in Wikipedia. French standards?[edit]

"it is formally pronounced seven-yay[3] by French standards" How is the New York Times an authority on 'french standards'? There's no way it would be pronounced to rhyme with 'yay' in French. I don't dispute the citation -- since the NYT claims purely to show how some names of French origin are to be pronounced *in New York* -- rather the way it's cited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.158.67 (talk) 23:45, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

REALLY needs a decent top photo.[edit]

This article is currently a Good Article Nominee, but it is suffering from a lack of a decent photo of the article's subject; can ANYONE find a free-use image out there, or go about pertaining permission to use one? Even if I obtained permission, I have no idea how I'd go about proving that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Youshotandywarhol (talkcontribs) 22:35, 1 March 2010 (UTC) Youshotandywarhol (talk) 22:36, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I have been looking for quite some time for a decent free photo, but haven't found anything. If you obtain permission, you can submit an OTRS ticket for the photo. Make sure it is the actual copyright holder you are talking to though. Nymf hideliho! 22:44, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, if that's a pic of Chloe, it's the worst possible pic to choose.--Louiedog (talk) 15:16, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move article to Chloe without the ë?[edit]

WP:DIACRITICS states "when deciding between versions of a word which differ in the use or non-use of modified letters, follow the general usage in reliable sources that are written in the English language" , by this standard the article should be moved to Chloe Sevigny. Muhib mansour: The source you are linking to says, "But, as she told the New York Post in 2003, though she rebelled against the family religion in her youth, Chloë is to this day a practicing Catholic..." - SummerPhD (talk) 05:36, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why no mention of her part in Bloodline?[edit]

Odd that this hasn't been mentioned yet. Five months and counting since the premiere is a long time in showbiz. And on Wiki, the triggerhappiest of all websites, in general... Especially when it's such a big part on such a huge, ongoing show. Will be on most top 10 TV shows at the end of 2015, and Sevigny's performance has been noted by several critics. Come on internet people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.157.137.230 (talk) 20:54, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What?! And now I see it's marked as a 'good article'. That's just weird considering the above omission. I'll try and include it now very briefly, as a start. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.157.137.230 (talk) 21:02, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Yorker Article - Wrong Quote[edit]

The article twice references a 1994 portrait of Sevigny in The New Yorker by Jay McInerney, quoting him as saying that she was "the coolest girl in the world". Nowhere in his article does he say this. There are several instances of McInerney and other people quoted in the portrait describing her as "super-cool" or "cool", and McInerney mentions Sonic Youth as "the coolest band in the world" (Sevigny appeared in one of their music videos). But the quote given in the Wikipedia article is nowhere to be found. Seeing as it is used in the leading paragraph and then again further down in the article, this should be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.214.21.170 (talk) 16:53, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
