Why Platform 9 3/4[edit]

Why Platform 9 3/4 as opposed to 9 1/2? Did JKR just think 9 3/4 was funnier???

I think that is unlikely for two reasons: Firstly, replacing all the lines with maglev track would be too expensive for the ministry, and secondly, as Hermione will tell you, electronic devices don't work in areas of high magic (such as platform 3/4 ?). Substituting the template[edit]

Inspiration[edit]

Yeah, but it's OR if it's not been published anywhere else. More likely a ripoff from Lord Dunsany. Check out Google for refs to stories way back about going to wierd places at the edge of the world by secret purple ticket from Victoria Station. Merge suggestion[edit]

The Hogwarts Express is one more issue in the Harry Potter universe that has failed to meet notability. The majority of this article is not even about the fictional train itself, but it is about the portrayals in films, some of them about the stations. The references cited are about the vandalism, but it relates more to the 5972 Olton Hall; it is like we had an individual article for Marcus Belby only because Rob Knox was killed. All the information about the portrayal, the models and the vandalism can be placed in the 5972 Olton Hall's article. The information about Paltform 9 3/4 can be moved to Places in Harry Potter, and the introduction of this article (the only section that actually describes the Hogwarts Express) can be merged into Magical objects in Harry Potter.
