I'm not clear on why this is thought to be in the public domain. The artist lived til 1934, so if copyright law is "life of the author plus 100 years", it won't enter public domain until 2034. Elf | Talk 23:18, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

My understanding is that at least in the USA, anything that was published before 1923 is in the public domain regardless of the life of the author. It may not be public domain elsewhere. I am not sure why the notice reads that way. -- Smerdis of Tlön 05:39, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
