This is an unusual contribution. I don't have the knowledge to add to it or edit it. It would seem to require a delicate touch.

It should be disambiguated with Elaine "Spanky" Macfarlane of the 60s folk-rock group Spanky and Our Gang (obviously named for the film comedy troupe). Ortolan88 20:39 Jul 26, 2002 (PDT)

I have no idea who this page is about. I take it it's someone well-known, about whom a relative has written, rather than some passing genealogist mistaken about the nature of wikipedia? In the former case, I suggest a new wikipedia-style opening, with dates, description, and then present what is currently on that page as a direct quotation, for example: "X's relative Y visited Wikipedia on DATE and wrote the following about him: " or something. That leaves the way clear for more material to be added around it. This sort of thing may happen again... -- Tarquin 01:00 Jul 27, 2002 (PDT)

This is about George "Spanky" McFarland who was just known as "Spanky" on Our Gang. Most certainly worthy of being in Wikipedia, yet this entry seems to have been written by a family member. I will make a stub and move the personal bio at the top of this talk page. --mav 02:33 Jul 27, 2002 (PDT)

Might it not be an idea to preserve as quotations what family members write about famous people? -- Tarquin 07:41 Jul 27, 2002 (PDT)
