I think the most memorable element of the rancor sequence is the pathos of the rancor keeper after Luke so heartlessly gatecrashed it. 76.27.232.185 (talk) 11:25, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification needed[edit]

As far as I can tell, "Allya", "Dathomir" and "Tenel Ka" are not characters from any of the movies but probably from books. It might be helpful to explicitly state what parts of the article are from the movies and which parts are from other media.

"The tamed rancors then carried the witches from clan to clan." What? Where did witches come in? If they are an alternative name for something already mentioned, it needs to be made more clear. If they refer to something else, they need to introduced appropriately..

There are force witches on dathomir. That's what its talking about>70.105.68.30 22:38, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Natural Habitat[edit]

Could someone expand or remove the natural habitat section. It's just one sentence. Currently it doesn't even deserve to exist--Jim Shorts 17:40, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Jim Shorts[reply]

Reference deleted[edit]

* In the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, there is an underground dungeon like area called "The Den of Rancor". This particular use of the word Rancor is in reference to the hatred one builds from the Tonberries that inhabit this region. The traditional definition of rancor being a bitter hatred or grudge, this is an appropriate use for the name that doesn't play into Starwars lore (however, it's nightmarish apperance may lead one to believe that the Rancor to be hatred in a corporeal form, a sort of demon). *

Removed the reference, since it's not a reference to the creature at all, thus completely pointless to the section. Magicflyinlemur 21:17, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted scene[edit]

When the rancor devours Jubnuk, wasn't there a scene where the guard's legs were still kicking after the top half of him got eaten that was removed? Scorpionman 03:49, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category: Fictional dinosaurs[edit]

I'm confused why this article is in the category 'fictional dinosaurs.' It was changed from 'fictional monsters' in this revision, but apparently seems to be accepted by all subsequent edits. Reading the article, I don't see anything referring to the rancor even as a distant relative to dinosaurs - so what am I missing? -pinkgothic 23:27, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took that out, it's ridiculous. Sabine's Sunbird talk 00:52, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Legorancor.jpg[edit]

Image:Legorancor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Why use the skull?[edit]

How come Luke throws the skull at the thing that lowers the door to kill the Rancor? Why does he not just use the Force? This has always bugged me... —Preceding unsigned comment added by IzzyVanHalen (talkcontribs) 14:04, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, that's not very consistent or realistic. However, the movie did have one of the most realistic depictions of a Hutt crime lord in cinematic history.--Mzzl (talk) 07:44, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think he used the force to help him hit the panel with the skull.Maddogfilms (talk) 06:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MTG[edit]

Rancor is also a playable card in the Magic the gathering tradeable card game.

One may wish to make an entry or redirection on this at the top of the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.123.222.233 (talk) 09:14, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

This article has a single sentence of real-world information, and expansion of the plot will quickly devolve into trivia and regurgitation. I've merged and redirected this to the list of star wars creatures. --EEMIV (talk) 16:29, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
