Background color query[edit]

Francis, your work on this list is admirable. I'm left wondering though, what does the white/light grey background (e.g. BWV 4.1) represent? Perhaps it could be included in the Colour-Meaning key (if it's miscellaneous, I would think that should be included as well, since at the moment it may appear that someone forgot to put a key color in those entries). As a side note, I would urge you to initiate a formal RM for the section above. Best - Aza24 (talk) 22:10, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re.
  • Various shades of grey are used for headers, titles and subdivisions of the list. Afaik, this is never explained when Wikipedia's tables are used in mainspace, for being too evident to need explanation.
  • For cells that have neither a greyish background, nor any of the colours defined in {{Bach's compositions (background)}}, I think it also too evident to need a word of explanation: it means that none of these qualifications indicated by background colours apply. Duh. I don't think we need to treat readers as if they're complete ignoramuses.

Yes I certainly understand that the absence of specific background color means none apply, but what I'm confused about is what is the piece classified as if none of the three apply? In other words, the three background colors seem all encompassing, so at a glance entries without one appear as missing it rather than not having any apply in the first place. BWV 563[edit]

BWV 563 (The 'Fantazia con imitazione') seems to have the wrong key in the list. Every source I find lists it as being in B Minor, yet it is classified as C Major in the listing. Is there something I'm missing or is it just a simple mistake? 2804:38A:C044:A4C:0:24:FED7:4101 (talk) 11:49, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
