The Humungous Image Tagging Project

Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. Orks vs. Orcs

the split tag on Orc (Warhammer) isn't superfluous; a number of us think that it should be split into Orcs and Orks (warhammer 40000). Yeah, someone probably should have put a note in the Talk page first, but then, someone probably should have put a talk page note before merging the two. (Not everyone agrees that Orcs and Orkz are the same creature. I mean -- one's got square bases and the other have round bases! Obviously different ;-) creatures)

Diver down flag

Hello, I came across your edit and I wonder, whether you could provide any source to support your statement, that the use of the diver down flag is required by law or regulation "in many other countries all over the world" besides the US and Canada? Thanks. --AtonX (talk) 15:45, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, for example I live in Italy and here it is required by law. (I added that reference at the article)

Villo!

Regarding the section on pricing, I would simply like to point out that while it is true that pricing is included in the articles about the other projects, it does not graphically overwhelm the articles. For an article of the length of Villo!, I think the way pricing is currently presented in Sevici would be more appropriate.

I did not revert your changes, but I must warn you that someone else might. In fact, the current layout of the article could be interpreted by some as an attempt to spam. • Sorry, but it seems that you are just fishing for arguments. If you personally don't like the style in which the information is bona fide presented, then change the style and layout yourself, but don't just plainly remove the information. If you think, that in principle pricing should not be part of article information, then make a proposal for a rule to establish this, I am only following existing practice and I agree with it. If you think this is a spam (and I don't see the point, with so many articles on other public cycling projects - and I am in no way affiliated with, and/or endorsing Villo! - I just happened to miss the article here), then in the sense of WP:SPAM feel free to salvage it by rewriting it in a neutral point of view. --AtonX (talk) 22:04, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Just remember that you are writing for an international audience that may or may not know the exchange rate between the Euro and their local currency. As far as I can tell, English is not an official language in Brussels, so I don't believe a detailled pricing table would be regarded as relevant, especially given that it can still be found, and updated more rapidly, on the project's own website. (That's basically the main reason why I'm not a fan of Wikipedia articles containing such information. • I would reckon that the Euro is not just some minor exotic unknown currency — quoting the Wikipedia article on Euro: As of November 2008, with more than €751 billion in circulation, the euro is the currency with the highest combined value of cash in circulation in the world, having surpassed the U.S. dollar. Thus we can justifiably assume, it is sufficiently well known around the world with the international audience.
  Indeed, French is the dominant language in Brussels, and the French-language article does contain the same information on pricing as the English-language one (and not added by me). Interestingly however, people ‘of non-Belgian European descent’ and ‘of non-European descent’ take 56% of Brussels' population and some 35% of the city inhabitants use English as their first or second language [2]. Again, I would argue that this justifies targetted information in the English language as well, not only in French.
  The main point, however, is that the user price information should show (in all the articles) that public bicycles are a truly affordable means of municipal transport and a viable alternative to cars and motorcycles, as well as an alternative to standard bicycle rental, which cost from 10–12 € / day (16–20 CAD).
  And, last but not least, the affordability should encourage people to use the bikes, it contributes to your personal health, to lowering of dust and particulate matter pollution, noise and NOx as well as carbon dioxide emissions, n'est-ce pas? :-) --AtonX (talk) 09:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Nitrox

Since nitrox is defined a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen in any proportion, it is difficult to find an exact form of words that describe an upper limit for the oxygen content. Your definition would imply that EAN90, for example, would not be nitrox. Similarly you exclude 99% O2, and so on. Although neither of those are a likely choice for a deco mix as 100% O2 would be more obvious in practice, it is simply inaccurate to state that nitrox mixes are limited to 80% O2 (incidentally, a mix that is only recommended for initial training). Add that to the fact that when cutting a table, the final deco mix is handled as any other nitrox mix, and you have a good argument for considering nitrox to be any O2/N2 mix with FO2 up to 100%. To be pedantic, that should be "up to but not including 100%", but what is gained from that?

The lead of Oxygen toxicity is not the place to go into details of various nitrox mixes, and it is simply untrue that "Recreational scuba divers now commonly use nitrox, a breathing gas containing up to 36% oxygen", since EAN40 is easy to blend without additional precautions and is obviously preferred for dives up to 25 metres. Would you have another look at the edit you made to Oxygen toxicity and see if we can find a consensus on the wording? --RexxS (talk) 18:33, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

• Hallo and thanks for your message. The original sentence was Recreational scuba divers now commonly use nitrox, a breathing gas containing up to 100% oxygen. I think there were two basic generalisations in that statement:
  1. Let's agree that "recreational" divers don't use a mix with more than 40% oxygen. My error is the "36%" value, you are right that recreational certificates go up to EAN40. Everything above would be classified as technical courses.
  2. The second incorrect part was the wording "commonly used". While for diving beyond the recreational range you could in theory have any nitrox with "up to but not including 100% oxygen", would that also be "commonly used"? Rather, it would "commonly" be something between EAN50–80, rarely up to EAN90. Beyond that, 100% oxygen would be the choice. (And I am not speaking about fractional values which you get by real-world blending with a margin of error.)
  I don't mind replacing the sentence by a more general statement, such as "Scuba divers use breathing gases containing up to 100% oxygen. Divers must have specific training to be allowed to purchase and use such gases for breathing." This would be precise enough and would sufficiently illustrate divers' interest in oxygen toxicity. Thanks for your suggestion - I think that would be a much better summary for the lead. When I took it to FAC, I was desperate to keep the lead as concise as possible. I'd like to see the detail you provided before in the Oxygen toxicity#Society and culture section to flesh out the rather brief mention of nitrox there. By using the word "commonly" or "in practice" (practise for US!), the formulation "nitrox up to 80% oxygen or pure oxygen" would be an accurate indication of what normally happens (since EAN80 is usable at a 9 metre stop and 100% O2 is usable at a 6 metre stop, anything in between has no practical use). Do you think you could effectively move your last addition to that section and put the wording above in the lead? --RexxS (talk) 22:28, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
