There is art that people don't recognise. There is a history that is only noticed by it's members. There is technology to which the mainstream will remain forever ignorant.

My main interest / hobby / career / life's work is real-time computer graphic art. Not prerendered animations, there's no risk to them, and you never get to see them without video compression anyway. Not video games, they're just wastes of time. There have been a few attempts to chronicle the history of 'demos', but most people don't understand them, and think that they're self-promotion, just one website, a DVD for sale, or some company selling .the .product. If a web-based, 'free' encyclopedia wishes to retain any notion of credibility, it must allow an internet-based, free technological-artistic movement to chronicle it's history.
