Welcome![edit]

Hi Sanbec, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Image:AlysonHannigan.jpg[edit]

I notice you added {{nonfreedelete}} to Image:AlysonHannigan.jpg because it was specified as no third party use. I have changed the license statement on that image to say it is GFDL, because it was User:LazLong's own work and thus he implicitly agreed to license it under the GFDL by uploading it. I think that resolves the problem, unless he complains. —Morven 04:26, Mar 31, 2005 (UTC)

Replacement of "merge" arrow GIFs with PNGs[edit]

1. I used GIFs because it's my understanding that some browsers do not display transparent PNGs properly. Am I mistaken? Please let me know.

2. I released these images into the public domain, and I don't believe that it's appropriate for you to claim ownership of visually unmodified versions that have simply been converted from one file format to another. I would appreciate if you would amend the descriptions to indicate public domain status. Otherwise, I'll simply upload my own PNG versions with such tags. Thanks!

Re: Image:Indonesian Rupiah.jpg[edit]

Just speedy it. It was uploaded in the days before agressive enforcement of copyright policy. Alr 23:55, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This image was persumably (as I was told) created by an AOL member who during the time of upload granted me a full GNU Free Documentation License, however it's been a long time that the source link has been broken even long before you an admin was asking me about the image copyright status. All the best. --Amir85 06:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
