ALP and White Australia

Greetings Ted, a number of us are concerned with your edits to the ALP page, mainly because we feel they violate Wikipedia policy. Specifically, we believe your favoured phrasing is not neutral. It should generally be enough to state the indisputed facts and leave the readers to draw conclusions for themselves. When a particular claim is disputed or a matter of opinion, the best practice is to note it as such and fairly attribute it to those who hold that view, while also giving space to opposing viewpoints. Secondly, Adam has introduced a phrasing into the article that has the general consensus support of the editors working on the article, which your alternative phrasing did not. It is general Wikipedia practice to edit along a policy of consensus as much as possible. Working against consensus, especially without any explanation or discussion, is usually considered vandalism and is frowned upon (particularly by the Australian Wikipedia community). By all means your are free to make your case on the talk page in an effort to change the consensus, but if you engage in one-sided behaviour such as reverts and unsupported edits there is no doubt you will be considered an anti-social editor.

Even though I have no doubt you are editing out of a concern for accuracy, you need to keep the wishes of other editors in mind and engage in dialogue with them. If you establish a relationship with other editors based on trust and good faith, they will be more receptive to your input in future.
