I don't get it... the category is an orphan. What's going on here? Alphax τεχ 13:53, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Perspective[edit]

As I continue to explore the pages associated with this project, and ruminate on arguments I have already made, I keep coming back to a question of perspective on Cause vs. Effect. The list of disasters on this page are all about Effect - the loss that results from a disaster (many are also not disasters as defined by Emergency Management principles). However the title "man-made" itself references the cause. This, I believe, is the central conflict which plagues the thorough categorization of disasters.

I think this page would be more useful if its title were changed to make it less contradictory to the social custom of viewing disasters by the type of loss. I invite discussion on the subject while I research a better hierarchy. Parradoxx 21:27, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Title Change To Human-made disaster?[edit]

Title and terminology[edit]

I am getting a bit tired of the constant changes between man-made and human-made, as well as between hazard and disaster. What I would prefer for this article is Human-made hazard. In the domain, the trend is towards using Human as opposed to Man. There is also no question that the article is presenting hazards and not disasters. Compare this article with list of disasters. --rxnd ( t | | c ) 06:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
