No mention of Harlan County, USA? What's the deal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.149.143 (talk) 07:18, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duke Energy[edit]

Duke Power changed its name to Duke Energy in 1997. Duke Power today is a subsidiary of Duke Energy.

Move Duke Power to Duke Energy[edit]

Duke Energy is the company, and Duke Power is a subsiduary. The page name should logically be Duke Energy. 142.217.16.115 23:50, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I moved this article today before I realized it was under formal proposal. It had been on my to-do list for a while. — Fingers-of-Pyrex 14:36, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

incorrect, the name became Duke Energy when Duke Power and Cinergy merged. there is no more Duke Power. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wayneair (talkcontribs) 23:09, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Duke Energy Mergers and Split[edit]

Duke has merged with Cinergy recently... and also it's about to split into two companies. --hzwan 9:23 AM 2006, July 6th (ETC)

Why mention Cincy and Charlotte as dual HQs?[edit]

There's only one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.58.160.62 (talk) 16:26, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I read / learn more about the history of Union Gas?

This link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Gas

Seems to have been changed to point to Duke Energy.

I would have wanted to read what the original Union Gas wiki article had.

Where is it? - - -

Each of the gobbled up firms (ULH&P, CG&E, etc.) should have a separate wiki page to retain the history, and each should have a reference to the Duke page in a sentence or two that reports the take-over date. Far too much corporate history has been lost by the combining of info into the surviving firm's page and the info truncated and otherwise trimmed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.44.86.223 (talk) 15:16, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Pic[edit]

There def. needs to be a new picture. This one looks like it says that the HQ is some park... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.153.4.202 (talk) 21:56, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Griggs v. Duke Power Co.[edit]

What are your thoughts on including the highly significant 1970 Supreme Court case Griggs v. Duke Power Co., interpreting Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, in this entry? (talk) 17:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone should certainly add that. I was surprised to be led here from the court case Wiki article and not even see a mention of it on this page. ElkanahTingley (talk) 22:09, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lobbying Efforts[edit]

Duke is hiring Heath Schuler, who is retiring from Congress in January. Schuler will direct its lobbying and government affairs in Washington, D.C.

Would like to add section on all lobbying efforts of Duke.--Wikipietime (talk) 14:47, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Source to offer[edit]

I noticed two "citation needed tags" in this area:

Duke Energy has been "one of the most vocal advocates"[citation needed] for a "cap-and-trade" system to combat global CO2 emissions,[1] "and the company's CEO, Jim Rogers, thinks the company will profit from cap-and-trade".[citation needed]

These two quotes appear in this article [1].

Since I'm not sure that source is appropriate, I figure other readers/editors can either add that source, leave it as is, or delete the section out-right as they see fit. Chris M. (talk) 16:54, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

North Carolina Coal Ash Spill[edit]

A section should be added documenting the coal ash spill in North Carolina. A criminal probe has been launched; the issue surely warrants discussion on the company's page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.4.253.100 (talk) 04:06, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes for sure. Duke seems to have a poor environmental record. --66.41.154.0 (talk) 07:36, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of notability tag[edit]

I have removed the notability tag. There is recent significant coverage of a state supreme court case regarding the company. Would be good to add these sources and info ~RAM (talk) 10:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
