You say you've listed this article I began on the VfD page, but when I search for hoskin there I get nothing. No discussion listed. Nothing. Where exactly do I go to vote against your peremptory action? (This is the first time somebody's tried to eliminate one of my contributions, so pardon my novicehood.) I didn't deliberately post it anonymously, either, I just keep forgetting that if I'm logged in in one language I'm no longer logged in if I follow an Interwiki link into another language. 18:09, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC) Haruo

Still no indication of the grounds for deletion, nor any other mention of the page at VfD. 05:11, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Seeing no VfD listing for this article, and finding ample reason on Google for it to be retained, I assume that you had second thoughts about this and I've removed the VfD header from the article. If you still think it's a VfD candidate after a Google search to find out why the gentleman is significant, please feel free. Jamesday 05:22, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Thanks! But it was not a copyright violation - wrote it all myself. It's what I do for a living.

Haven't worked out how to get a user name yet and probably haven't done this message correctly either!

Archives[edit]

I do understand i've been experimenting at the wrong place but i feel some of the pages i created are informative.

Sure thanks for the tips. I understand you've got to maintain the high standards of this place. I'll clean things up. Pakhandi Dubey was meant to be a joke anyways. sorry if you did not find it funny :-D Manik Raina 15:54, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Jewess[edit]

From what I understand, Jewess is also an offensive term. I saw the one mention of Jewess, but is it mentioned there that it is offensive? I'll look again. Mike H 19:48, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)

Ah, okay. I just said it because I read the word "Jewess" in The Onion and jokingly referred to my Jewish friend Jackie as such. She wasn't angry but she did explain that it wasn't the nicest of terms. Mike H 19:55, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)

user pages[edit]

thanks for fixing that for me, i didn't realise Ohka- 01:30, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for warning me and correcting that thing about the Portuguese flag! Although I have already written some articles, I'm rather new here and since I discovered that the Australian flag had its own page, I decided to create one for the Portuguese Flag too. But anyway, thanks! :D

Speedy deleting[edit]

Thank you for your valiant efforts in combating wikijunk, but dicdefs like Spread-eagle are not currently Speedy deletion candidates. In the future, please list such dicdefs on VfD. Thanks! blankfaze | •• | •• 01:51, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hello, I'm trying to tidy up the spoils at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Old and this one's a bit of a hurdle. I don't really understand what the consensus is to do with these two pages. Do you fancy having a bash at tidying them up, and if anything needs deleting/transwikiiing, then let me know. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 21:40, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Well because I needed to clear the backlog of articles on vfd/Old I merged one into the other and redirected. Still needs a considerable amount of work though, as I am sure you can see! -- Graham ☺ | Talk 13:32, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Evolution vandalism?[edit]

Hi, I'm looking over your last edit to Evolution (on 18 Jul), and I'm not seeing the vandalism you're referring to. Is the page history just acting weird, or is there something more to the debate than I can see? The only changes I see are the changing of a few section/subsection titles to still seemingly-innocuous phrases. After all, "History evolutionary thought" isn't proper English, and changing that to "History of evolutionary thought" might well make one want to change the main subject header to avoid duplication. -- Mike J. 17:08, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Should Evolutionism be listed on Votes for Deletion?[edit]

I started to list Evolutionism on Votes for Deletion, but then I wondered what you had in mind that you did not yet say in the Evolutionism page. What could you possibly say that would make Evolutionism a meaningful encyclopedia page? What could you say in Evolutionism that would be more than just a dictionary definition? Can you suggest an outline for the Evolutionism page? What points would you make? I will even help you write it if you are convincing. ---Rednblu 03:27, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Although it is only a paragraph long, I do believe that it is a useful article because it does point to several articles in turn. Otherwise, it should be. If you look at special:whatlinkshere/evolutionism, Wikipedia:Redirects with possibilities links there. Peope have mentioned a request for an "evolution (religion)" page, and I think that that is it. We can always change it to a redirect back to evolution, but I'd rather have a vote somewhere. Cheers, Dunc_Harris| 09:05, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Do you think the current Evolutionism page covers enough points to qualify as an encyclopedia page? Can you suggest an outline that would give the Evolutionism page enough depth to survive Votes for deletion? Have you said on Evolutionism what you think should be said about "Evolutionism?" ---Rednblu 16:01, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

---

I have summarized on Talk:Evolutionism some suggestions for making Evolutionism a page with enough depth to survive a vote on Votes for deletion. Somebody else may beat me to the nomination of Evolutionism for VfD, but I will hold off for a few days to see if you want to correct the inaccuracies and lack of value in the current Evolutionism page. ---Rednblu 17:16, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hey, thanks[edit]

Duncharris:

Thanks for the help with the formatting. I'm still learning little things here and there. I don't know if my students are completely "sold" on the Wikipedia, but they are learning. They're working on the Saint Louis Art Museum now. We'll see how that page turns out at the end of the next two weeks (when this class ends.) Thanks again for all your help!

Itchy trigger finger[edit]

Calm down. I'll delete the test page when I am done. Experiments with templates cannot be done in the User namespace. Thanks. Pcb21| Pete 12:21, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)
