Round, truncate, or neither??[edit]

Historically, radio stations generally identified themselves by a nickname including a number that can either round or truncate. However, with my current knowledge, it has become common in recent years for the exact frequency to be mentioned in an identification. This should mean that there will soon be a time in radio history when all FM radio stations in the United States go by their exact frequencies, but that a shortened form with a rounded number is still recognized as an understandable shortening. (An example of such a word already of this kind is hamburger, which burger is an understandable shortening.) 66.245.115.34 22:15, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)
