Untitled[edit]

Here it says that Isabella had four sons. But her husband's page states that they had only three sons, though Philip did have three more children with his second wife. In addition, Charles, Count of Valois is said to be Isabella and Philip's third son.

It seems that Robert's the odd son out. Did he ever exist? What's the scoop on this discrepancy? Randee15 12:52, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I'm not sure... the French article included Robert, so I did as well when I translated it. I thought he was probably just left out of Philip's list, because he died young and apparently wasn't important, but I don't know. Adam Bishop 21:47, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Date of death[edit]

This article gives Isabella's date of death as 1271, accompanied by some very specific details which suggest the timing is well documented. However, her father's will, dated 25 August 1270, refers to her as already dead (and calls her Elizabeth). Can anyone who knows more than I do about medieval Iberian history throw some light on this? Could you please quote the will? Is it possible that James was referring to another child, possibly an illegitimate one? At the time, it was far from unusual to give the same name to two or more children, even if the older namesake was still alive when the younger one was born. I doubt she is the primary topic for the name Isabella of Aragon, maybe the first but not most important Isabella of Aragon.--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 18:24, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
