Images in Column to right

I don't know who put them like this, but the images down the right side seem out of place and hard to notice. I think they need to be more in the article. Images along the row are not too effective. On top of that, the images I see are not very good. Most are too dark, some are at strange angles. I think we need some better pictures with better formatting.

The "rear view of the Carter Building" image is very strange; at a weird angle and very dark. Also, I think a new section should be made for these photos maybe something like, "The MBA Campus" or "MBA Photos". Bjtitus 20:17, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Mama's Boys Academy

Googling on "Mama's Boys Academy," which a contributor said is a Nashvillian nickname for the academy, turns up no hits. If anyone can confirm that this nickname is in real use and can give a citation or other evidence here, it would be a nice thing to have in the article, but I don't think it can stand alone on the say-so of an editor. Certainly I can vouch as an ex-student that the term "Mama's Boy Academy" (and also "Momma's Baby Academy") are used by detractors, particularly students at Father Ryan High School, Hillwood High School, and Hillsboro High School, the main traditional rivals, but so what? They don't belong in an article about the school, any more that it belongs in the article about Ohio State University that Univeristy of Michigan students may refer to OSU students as "Suckeyes", or that Purdue students may refer to students at Notre Dame as the "Pope's Pupils", "beadstringers", "fish eaters" and the like.

Dpbsmith: That's because the nickname is not Mama's Boys Academy, but rather "boy", in the singular. Googling "Mama's Boy Academy" or "Momma's Boy Academy" does produce some results. However, I suppose that the above person may have a point in that a derisive nickname may not have a place in the article. I can, however, vouch for the fact that the name is quite popular among Nashvillians who freely use it as if it were the school's second name. -Sunny

MBA moved to present campus in 1915, not 1881

I'll try to find time to fix when I can lay hands on sources, but anyone with Ridley Wills' 2005 history of MBA can repair the statement here that the school moved to its current location in 1881. It was in various downtown locations before the purchase of the Totomoi estate in 1915. I have a scan of the new 1881 building downtown that I'll load in.

Mass vandalism end now

Hi. This article has been the victim of consistent vandalism since at least the first of this year. I am pretty sure we now have a vandalism free article. Let's keep it that way. I would like to see a reference for every addition to this article for at least a while. I have listed this article at the school project to keep watch for vandalism, so whomever thinks President Obama attend here or the school was founded in 30 AD, go find another hobby. Encyclopedic content

This isn't a PR piece for the school. The writing of the athletic and forensics sections were entirely inappropriate. It sounded like a press release. there are guidelines for how a school article should be written. You will find them here. WP:WPSCH/AG. If you can find independent sources to back it up, you can talk about particular sports that have a big tradition at the school, as long as it isn't all full of puffery, terms like nationwide reputation, renowned, famous, etc and isn't overly long. This is an encyclopedia. It is supposed to be somewhat boring! No one in Nairobi would consider an american high school football team renowned, especially one that hasn't even managed to win a state championship. Also, mention of individual accomplishments is in the list of thing not to put in a school article, as are names of individual students and faculty. What a good athletic section should include is the name of the conference the school is in, the state classification (3A, 4A, etc), the sports offered, a short discussion of a main rival and any state team championships the school has won. This isn't the school's article, it is an article about the school and needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release You should be writing for the dude in Nairobi. Again, the guidelines say that content that would be mostly of interest to the school's population or the community it is in shouldn't be in the article. The history on the school's webpage made no mention of Robert E. Lee, and that isn't what was originally in the article back when it was created. The only newspaper I could find on the school's website was the bellringer, and you are correct that only the paper that the school publishes should be in there. A prep school like this, with as many notable people attending it as it has had, should be no problem to write a decent article about.
