William II (emperor of Germany) was annoyed at Britain's and France's alliance and was trying to test it by unnecessarily bringing up the Morocco issue. The conference merely made Britain and France closer and left Germany unfulfilled and starting to look like a bully.

"During the conference, the British sailed their North Sea Navy to the Strait of Gibraltar, which was also where their Mediterranean Navy was stationed. The purpose for doing this was to intimidate Germany." Britain and Germany were rivals for Empire, hence the naval rivalry but France was terrified of Germany after 1870 & wanted its provinces back. Given the lack of citations I don't believe what I'm reading here. JRPG (talk) 22:17, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm ..the History Learning site does refer to the The Algeciras Conference of 1906 as does the Maurice Rouvier article. I'm not sure how authoritive it is. JRPG (talk) 12:25, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
