Are they Death Adder or not?[edit]

Ok, this is a rather confusing topic about the two Death Adder look-alikes from Golden Axe 2 and 3. Are Dark Guld and Hellbringer actually the same character, which we all know as Death Adder? - Yuri Elite

No, they are not the same person. Seth0708 19:25, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think its been definitively stated in the literature. It is certain that Death Adder was in Golden Axe 1, Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder, and Golden Axe: The Duel. Its probably a good idea to avoid making a definite statement about Hellbringer or Dark Guld. In other words just assume they are different people as far as writing the article, but don't specifically state they are entirely different characters. GA3 Character Names: Official?[edit]

Are any of the character's names under Golden Axe 3 actually official in terms of the English spelling? I've seen the katakana for those and the bulk of them are spelled totally wrong or are just flat out incorrect according to the manual scans I've seen.Rantinggeek 01:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Playstation 3 Release[edit]

On gamestop.com they have a Golden Axe Preorder and hype page, does anyone know anything about this? -Spectral Dragon

In PoR, there is a weapon (notably the strongest STR-boost-wise) in the game called the Golden Axe. Any relevance to the game? <3 bunny 21:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Golden Axe -EUR-.PNG[edit]

Image:Golden Axe -EUR-.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Screams[edit]

What is the reasoning that these sounds were digitized from the Rambo and Conan screams? I would find it eternally more likely that they were taken from a stock sound library, perhaps the same clips that the Foley editors of those two movies used. --Badger Drink (talk) 13:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalisation[edit]

I can't seem to work out how to remove the big black box of graffiti at the bottom; it'd be ace if someone else can. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.212.199 (talk) 16:03, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I believe Golden Axe is better described as "beat 'em up/slasher" than "hack and slash" Netrat (talk) 09:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arcade Flyer[edit]

I like to use the arcade flyer for the main infobox, as it was the original version of the game, not the Euro megadrive port, which is what's depected. The very unusual problem here is that the Arcade flyer doesn't mention the game. Should we switch to [1] or just leave it be? - superβεεcat  22:12, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction[edit]

I've come across a contradiction within the article, and I was wondering if anyone could clear it up for me. The article tells us the following in the first section (emphasis added by me):

The player controls one of three Warriors. The first is a battle axe-wielding dwarf, Gilius Thunderhead, from the mines of Wolud, whose twin brother was killed by the soldiers of Death Adder. Another is a male barbarian, Ax Battler, wielding a two handed broadsword looking for revenge for the murder of his mother. The last is a long-sword-wielding Tyris Flare, an amazon, whose parents were both killed by Death Adder.

However, in the second section, the article says:

The male warrior Ax, limited to 4 bars, is able to cast Earth spells. The dwarf Gilius, limited to 3 bars, casts lightning spells and the female warrior Tyris can cast devastating fire magic, but her most powerful spell costs 6 bars. To balance the differences in magic, each class has differences in the range of their main weapon. The Dwarf which has the least magic capacity has the longest range attacks. Conversely, the female warrior which has most magic, gets the shortest range attack. The male fighter is a balance between the two.

There is a rather obvious problem here: Longswords are longer than broadswords, hence the name. Additionally, broadswords are single-handed swords, making the description rather bizarre. Does the game's manual actually state that Ax uses a "two-handed broadsword", or is this an (incorrect) assumption that has been made? --Muna (talk) 17:19, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Release dates are wrong for Mega Drive versions.[edit]

The Release dates are those of the Mega Drive, not games. That's impossible for japanese version (before the arcade version! amazing not?) and U.S. version (the release of Genesis is 14 august 1989 and the cartridge in Japan comes the 23 december 1989). The european's version is perhaps come in the same time as the console, I do not know. I will change the release date for the japanese version. If you know the date for U.S. and EU. version, don't hesitate. Yeo Wren (talk) 03:13, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of the infamous voice acting.[edit]

It is a widely known fact that the voice actors in this game were all death row inmates. I believe this is an interesting fact that should be put into the article. Before I do so, I want to know if others support my potential edit. 3bsoflife (talk) 18:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is indeed an interesting fact and I would support adding it, as long as there is a reliable source of this information - other than "being widely known" :) ThomasAnderson (talk) 15:35, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Is this a reliable source? http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/The+Buzz/feature.asp?c=8154 Humanhand (talk) 10:36, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I say that is definitely not a reliable source. I have done some research into this and I can't find any good evidence of this. I doubt it is even true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.192.237.221 (talk) 15:22, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One player only on Sega Classics Collection?[edit]

Why does the article state that the Sega Classics Collection is a one-player-only version? It has the two-player mode just like the original Sega Genesis version. To play the Sega Classics Collection version 2 player, press the button that is used for your Magic Power on the second controller.

Personally, I would like to go in and fix this myself, and I still might, but in my experience, every time I fix something, someone else goes back in and screws it up again, so I'd rather just clear this up here and let the article writer fix it.

Name of the spell of Ax[edit]

Now it says that "The male warrior Ax is able to cast earth spells". But in the manual of Golden Axe there is "Volcaon Magic" of Ax, not "earth".

Types of swords[edit]

There is now "Ax Battler, wielding a two-handed broadsword, looking for revenge for the murder of his mother. The last is a longsword-wielding Amazon, Tyris Flare, whose parents were both killed by Death Adder". What are sources of information that Axhas "two-handed broadsword", and Tyris has "longsword"? There are no such information in manual of Goldex Axe. Also, there are other types of swords on goldenaxe.fandom.com.
