'Language planning' has nothing to do with constructed languages and should have its own content.

I have created a rough stub on 'language planning' based on this article: [1]. Also this article: [2].

There is obviously a lot of overlap between language planning and language policy, but it seems they should be kept conceptually distinct.

Any contributions or opinions welcome.

Having created this page, and having added further information, I am painfully aware that it is open to charges of plagiarism as most of the material is reproduced verbatim (although in edited form) from other sites. It needs rewriting so that these charges no longer apply.

Sole official language: English in the UK?[edit]

There are conflicting sources for whether English is official in the UK (see [3] at List of countries where English is an official language vs other articles which cite it as not being official). I thus changed it to Turkish in Turkey, which as far as I know is a better example. 143.117.157.60 (talk) 09:42, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quote wrongly attributed[edit]

I have never edited Wikipedia before and don't want to make a mistake, but the quote attributed to Cooper is definitely from Haugen (1959). You can also see this in the publication by Cooper that is cited. Gemmaanna (talk) 13:12, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of Photos[edit]

I was wondering if it would be possible to add some images to this page? This might be relevant if there was more discussion of how language planning has helped with language revival, especially with Wampanoag. Skmpark (talk) 18:19, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
