I really do not consider politicians father being a tailor a crucial issue. Everybody's father does something and yet we (normally) do not mention it. In former Czechoslovakia it is really nothing soooo special. Btw. the last link you added is really really out-dated and obviously in favour of him. mz 29 Aug 2004, 17:42 GMT+2

Knowing about a person's family is certainly useful information, it gives an idea of how the person grew up, where he or she came from. It's standard info for a reasonably thorough biographical article. I didn't add the links and I have now divided the two comments for clarity. Everyking 16:00, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Anyway, I just considered the information about his family background unimportant regarding the fact that many other more important information about his political career (essential for a "thourough article") are missing (and it is not my ambition, at least for now, to add them). I have never seen such a destruction of neutral information in the Wikipedia until now and I have seen many things here. Just for your information, we usually add information and do not delete it here. In addition, you have even "corrected" a text already corrected by a native speaker...Juro 20:23, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I assume you that I have been observing Meciar's political career very closely since 1995. I can prove that most of information I removed was half-true (such as "He was advocating [...] continued federation with the Czechs.") and the article as a whole is quite unbalanced. (But I admit that I might have done some mistakes, deleting information that I should have left.) However, I am really not interested into any sort of political debate here, so I just leave this article as it is, because it is not worth my time (at least not in present moment). In future I am open to discuss some issues I consider controversial in this article. PS. I really didn't mean to vandalise the article, I am sorry if it looked like, but you should not be so touchy, either. mz 22:31, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

(1) A personal tip. When you do not want to end like me, then leave the Wikipedia immediately!!! Everybody is so touchy here after one year or so, unless he does write about things that nobody else is interested in.... :) (2)In general, you cannot delete half an article, like in this case, and expect that nobody will notice that, and everybody will agree. A previous discussion is necessary. (3)As for Meciar himself, I can assure you that I am not a fan of him. But we are writing an encyclopaedia and the article is simply a collection of facts and deliberately contains no opinions. Me and the other authors were not "observing his career", but used available web links and literature. (4) "He was advocating [...] continued federation with the Czechs." - he WAS advocating it until before the 1992 elections, even afterwards - during the negotiations - he was not a full advocator of a separation. There is no informed person and no text in the world that would claim the opposite. But as for this particular point, you do not have to observe anything, it is enough to use your memory (if you are not too young).

Just hidden away[edit]

'Boxing' scandal[edit]

Wow, this article really needs work[edit]

This article has virtually nothing about his arrest, his suspected role in the kidnapping of the President's son, and NO references. We need to work on this and bring it up to even minimum requirements for Wikipedia. BWH76 (talk) 11:14, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
