List of English words used only by Filipinos[edit]

C.R. - Comfort Room, Bathroom, toilet, mens.

Taglish is not a form or variant of English, as Taglish refers to Tagalog mixed with English words! The variant of English spoken in the Philippines can be properly called Philippine English. I am removing the automatic redirect from Filipino English to Taglish and substituted a disambiguation page to include Philippine English and Taglish. --Ronaldo Guevara 04:22, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I am trying to write about the nature of Taglish. Unfortunately Virgilio Almario has not replied to my queries, Ronaldo/Jondel, can you please tell me if you know of any other scholarly articles written about Taglish? Philippine gay lingo[edit]

there should be an article about gay lingo in the philippines! like.. itetch for ito, aketch for ako, and so on. and other terms too! i'm not an expert on this topic but i know someone out there might know something.. hehehe i think it would make a great and interesting article

Deep Tagalog[edit]

Derogatory?[edit]

"Taglish is often the result from Filipino's laziness to speak or write."

I am not myself Filipino but this line seems derogatory to me. Perhaps that was not the intention and if it was not it should be said a different way.

Tsuper[edit]

This word is from the Spanish word "Chófer" not from the French word "Chauffeur. Changed!

Merge Taglish/Englog[edit]

These terms refer to the same phenomenon. There is no reason to keep these separate.

I agree. There seems to be a continuum of code-switching between Tagalog and English, not a clear binary division between Taglish and Englog. Kaldari (talk) 01:25, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Coño redirect[edit]

Is it really necessary for the derogatory word Coño to redirect to this article? If somebody types that into the Wiki search bar, they're probably not expecting to find Taglish. Not to mention, the section of the article detailing this probably doesn't need a redirect. Would be curious to hear feedback about this. The reason I bring this up is that it has been used before as a form of vandalism, and of course is very derogatory in Spanish. Air ♠ Combat _What's^{up, dog?} 14:18, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I posted a note there, and then rescinded it when I realized that this wasn't about Taglish having the word "coño" but about their being something called Coño English. That's taken care of by redirecting to the section on Coño English, which in turn contains a fuller explanation of the source of the word for the benefit of people who came upon the word in that context.
