Names[edit]

I think that

  • Maalaisliitto 1906-1965 could be translated in English as "Agrarian League"
  • Keskustapuolue1965-198? could be translated in English as "Centre Party"
  • Suomen Keskusta 198?- could be translated in English as "Finnish Centre Party"

"Finnish Centre Party" may differ from Centern i Finland, which is The Center (Party) "in Finland" or better write"of Finland".

liberal[edit]

I see the word liberal mentioned in the article several times, but how is this word being used? Is it used to mean a free market, or social liberalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.36.29 (talk) 22:13, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Centre Party likes to present itself as a finnish "liberal" party but the truth is more complex. They have lots of socially conservative agrarian supporters (in contrast to the "liberal city-dwellers" of other parties) and many of their economical position are on par with the social democrats. And since even the "right-wing" National Coalition Party supports vast social security and welfare state system, the Centre Party cannot definitely be considered to be a classical liberal or free market party.
Almost the whole article should anyways be rewritten since it sounds like it was taken from the party website or something. Consider this: "Instead, liberalism is found in most major parties including the Centre Party, which supports decentralization, free will, free and fair trade, and small enterprise." How can one support restricting the trade (fair trade) and not restricting it (free trade) at the same time? 62.78.227.13 (talk) 12:34, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Edited my own comment which I wrote before having a Wikipedia account. JJohannes (talk) 00:05, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The talk page is not the place to go into substantive discussions about party policy, but only the factual basis of things mentioned in the article. – Kaihsu (talk) 14:10, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish language[edit]

There is no Swedish (or English) section of the Keskusta website. Is there some agreement with Swedish People's Party of Finland not to compete for centrist votes in each of the language communities? Or is this just an oversight? – Kaihsu (talk) 12:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; that solved the mystery. – Kaihsu (talk) 14:08, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery of "leaders"[edit]

What is the criteria used for choosing people to that gallery? Among them are people, who do not currently hold a significant political position. Neither does the gallery correspond with the party executive (puoluehallitus)[1] --89.27.8.236 (talk) 21:32, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Party Debt 2011-2015[edit]

Please give info of the debt payment of the Centre Party (Finland). In Finnish parliamentary election, 2011 the Centre Party (Finland) lost 16 Members of Parliament and was the 4th biggest party. 2007 Finnish campaign finance scandal contributed in the elections. State funding for parties is proportional to the number of MPs. As I have understood, this resulted in debts of Centre Party during 2011-2015. Is this correct? In which way the debt payments were organized? Who paid a share of the loan? I remember reading about it in media. Here references are needed. In my opinion political financing has wider interest and deserves a place here. Please add this data in the article or give reference in the information. How much was debt? How was debt paid away? Who gave funds? Watti Renew (talk) 15:47, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A "social conserativist" party - really?[edit]

Sorry (I dont want to be rude), but why on the earth has somebody classified this party as a "social conservativist" one? The party itself defines it's ideology as social liberalism, which is the opposite of "social conservatism". It's also an ALDE member. I would want to get valid reasons for this classification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:999:60:7173:6465:623E:40EA:9F55 (talk) 13:28, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As an example, most of its MPs voted against same-sex marriage when the parliament passed it in 2014; 30 Centre MPs voted against, 6 voted for it. --Jaakko Sivonen (talk) 21:26, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nuorisoliitto[edit]

My additions taken away [2] deserves place in the article since it has Wikipedia:Reliable sources and 3rd party references . It is neutral to include data of losses in amount of 100 million as under investigation by police. Contraverses of political parties have large interest in all democratic countries. Watti Renew (talk) 16:50, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Watti Renew: I don't care enough about this to press this, but it's obvious from this and your past behavior that your edits are clearly politically motivated and the content you've added is not neutral, and I suggest that you not engage in political editing on Wikipedia if you're unable to set aside your own biases while doing so. Also note that this isn't the main reason why I explicitly reverted you the first time; per WP:CRITS, "controveries" sections are discouraged, and any such content that would be added to such a section should instead be synthesized into other sections as appropriate. Mélencron (talk) 16:07, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I write about climate change, environmental issues, corruption and human rights. I agree this is political. Politics are all issues that concern more than one person. In my opinion most articles in Wikipedia are politics. It is nothing to be afraid of.
This problem could be solved by a new headline: Real estate business. OK? Watti Renew (talk) 16:38, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
