From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Current science and technology events was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to keep the article.

Nothing but an external link and a lot of red 200x in tech links. Only linked to from Current events, and I think any notable tech events can go there anyway. Created by an IP with little history. Delete Jonpin 03:47, Nov 15, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. I have nothing to add to Jonpin's argument. --Falsifian 04:01, 2004 Nov 15 (UTC)
  • Delete: Very odd. Current events links there, and yet no one is populating the page? Very weird. Geogre 04:33, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Seems to be redundant/junk. zoney talk 12:17, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Keep in new form. zoney talk 00:31, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep Plenty of work has been done on the page Hfastedge 18:20, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep the new version. Jeltz 18:26, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep this version. I've changed the 'years in tech' to 'years in science', on the grounds that 'tech' isn't a word, and we don't have a 'year in tech' article. Average Earthman 19:23, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Strong keep; "current science events" might be a better and more encyclopedic title (and match the "years in" sister pages Average Earthman points out), and all technology included on the page is surely a reasonable subset of "science." Samaritan 20:46, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Comment: I still don't see why the things on this page can't go on Current events itself (like I'd imagine it always has). Sports, I can understand, there's a damn lot of sporting events every day, and a lot of people really don't care and don't want it cluttering up their news. On the other hand, when something in science or tech happens, it is news in its own right and most people care. I dunno, does this count as me being more for a Merge? For now, I'll stick with delete as stated above. Jonpin 21:58, Nov 15, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep this version. GRider 22:25, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep, but change the name to "Current science events" or "Current events in science and technology". --Idont Havaname 00:29, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Nothing to add that hasn't already been said. -- The King Of Gondor (call me Dale) 01:38, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)
  • Weak keep.Wifki 07:29, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • The majority is for keep, so delete the votes for deletion label in the page. This is going to be ne of the best wikipedia pages, for sure --Mac 21:30, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
