Merge[edit]

Okay, so this is a merge of the media info on the manga page and anime page, less potential for mistakes than on the Trigun characters merge. However, a few obvious blanks to fill in, feel free to tick off if you do any of them. --zippedmartin 01:30, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Add japanese manga volumes
  • Add ISBNs and dates for manga volumes
  • Add air dates, and possibly DVD release info, for the anime episodes
Right, most of that done, and lots of other nice additions from CyberSkull including some pretty pics. I wonder if the short YYYY-MM-DD or the long Month DD, YYYY is better for the lists though. Could probably make tables prettier somehow too... --zippedmartin 05:22, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linkness[edit]

Most people who visit this are navigating from the main Trigun page or something like that, but this article *might* do well to have a main article link at the top or bottom... The Trashman 00:38, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

dvds[edit]

im wondering which version of trigun is in the limited collectors edition. is it the original or is it this "remix" version they are currently releasing.--Riskbreaker87 12:59, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of Trigun chapters[edit]

some links that should help with the chapter list.

Hope someone who can find these Japanese characters can help out.Lucia Black (talk) 10:21, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It seems some titles were changed when they were collected into tankobon form, but this site has most of titles, and them seem the same in the images you brought. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:12, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I also noticed that too. For example Popo/Dancing Revolver. i'll take a closer look into it. But some of them seem "modified" or "translated", so i'm not sure if some of these chapters use japanese characters.Lucia Black (talk) 01:15, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It may not work if the text you're working with is on heavily illustrated pages or if the kanji/kana characters are heavily modified for artistic purpose on the [scanned] covers etc but OCR may be an option for transcribing the lists of titles - Lists for which the characters appear to be sharp enough and stand out clear enough from the background. A bit of a time consuming process though. Verso.Sciolto (talk) 04:34, 3 February 2014 (UTC) An other option may be to contact the editor(s) who originally entered some of the Japanese title information to the article (List of Trigun media).edited Verso.Sciolto (talk) 05:20, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Dandy Sephy is already assisting on the matter.Lucia Black (talk) 07:23, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a start and will continue on it as I get a few minutes. I'll do a clean up as I check each volume off at the end. One of the titles I need to ref to someone with better skill than me, but I'll wait until I'm finished.Dandy Sephy (talk) 08:54, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, the names havent exactly changed, just for some reason Trigun volume one skips over to Trigun Maximum chapters. its really odd.Lucia Black (talk) 07:40, 3 February 2014 (UTC) I noticed that some of the japanese characters are in italics. is that intentional? and if it is, why do they need to be in italics?Lucia Black (talk) 09:41, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thats part of what I mean by cleanup. Once I've finished it'll match what is done on our featured volume lists. I'll try and do it all tomorrow, if not it should be done by the end of the week. Dandy Sephy (talk) 18:31, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
i decided to try to help a little more...i have chapter 1 of Trigun vol.1 (mostly). "身(?)600億美元的男人" the (?) is the missing kanji. i had to manually look in the List of kanji by stroke count but it was extremely hard to use.Lucia Black (talk) 02:42, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Stroke count narrows it down. An other approach is to identify the radicals within a kanji. The chart at this site makes it possible to "build" a kanji from the component parts you recognise. http://jisho.org/kanji/radicals/ When you click a radical some of the most common kanji will appear underneath. You can select more than one recognisable radical to narrow down the choices. edit to add: http://jisho.org/kanji/details/價 Verso.Sciolto (talk) 03:18, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
i'll check one of them, but i dont unerstand what you mean by "radicals" either way, i'm sure i'll find out eventually.Lucia Black (talk) 03:20, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added a second link which takes you to the kanji you were looking for based on the chapter list you posted above. http://jisho.org/kanji/details/價
Each kanji is made from individual strokes. Each kanji is also made out of "parts". A part is a combination of strokes that form "components" used in many different kanji. Each component -or radical- is like a piece of a puzzle. When you recognise parts of a kanji you can use a chart like the one linked above to see in which in which kanji that part is used. That helps narrowing down the search to find a particular kanji. Each kanji is like a picture. A drawn image. Each kanji is made from individual lines but also from drawing smaller pictures first and then combining those smaller pictures into one bigger image to draw that kanji. Verso.Sciolto (talk) 03:39, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I got it. I'll see what i can do.Lucia Black (talk) 03:44, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Maybe this will help as well... Here is a Wikipedia table with radicals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_Japanese_kanji_radicals. Using the wikipedia table to identify the radicals by number - the kanji you were looking for this time, 價, is made from, for example, radicals 9 and 109. (109 -together with 12- is part of 154 and so forth) but note that (109 plus 10 gives 147) - which may look similar but is different. Noting differences like that can help find specific kanji. Radicals can also be used to group kanji together and divide them into "families" or "relatives" of similar appearance and/or meaning. Verso.Sciolto (talk) 04:11, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Stroke counts and radicals are all well and good but it's not flawless (you really need to have a level of knowledge to use it properly) and can be pretty slow. I have a proper Japanese electronic dictionary [1] and can just write the kanji into it. Far quicker, and gives better results. While I appreciate the desire to help, I know it's a pain to do it that way, I wouldn't be helping if I didn't have the dictionary. iPhone dictionaries are good but handwriting input isn't great, is much fussier and the radical input is still too slow due to the number of them and having to be careful with similar ones. Dandy Sephy (talk) 05:03, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The links Lucia Black first provided are showing titles in simplified Chinese. They are not titles in ja. I corrected the first title. BTW, did you tried copy and paste? I did and it worked when I replaced 600億$$の男. Oda Mari (talk) 09:26, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

They are the origianl japanese ones. i know the websites are in chinese. but they are still the original japanese scans.11:03, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Can someone familiar with the series have a look at older versions of this article (... or perhaps ask the editor(s) who originally entered title information before the most recent edits)? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Trigun_media&oldid=579201100 Note the link provided by Gabriel Yuji in the first reply above etc ... Verso.Sciolto (talk) 11:35, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Theres no one to ask. I'm the one who added the chapter info from the beginning.Lucia Black (talk) 11:37, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There was Japanese text in the article before you started editing. Someone must have entered that. Do you have access to the -physical- books to confirm the veracity of your edits and your revert of Oda Mari's edit? Verso.Sciolto (talk) 12:20, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, only in the titles, and they were all the same title. there was no new japanese one. and its a quick copy and paste from the main article. And i don't need access to physical books just to prove its Japanese. Its best to end your assistance here.Lucia Black (talk) 12:29, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I asked about the physical books because they can provide confirmation whether or not the information at your links - which aren't to the original publisher's site or equivalent - corresponds with the titles in the actual volumes. But I'll leave this alone now. Verso.Sciolto (talk) 12:44, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've done the first 8 volumes of Maximum. Let me know when the rest have had the English titles added and I'll finish it off.Dandy Sephy (talk) 14:18, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just added original trigun (not chinese) vol.1-3 scans. Having trouble with some of them. But dont worry, i verified if the Maximum content was japanese through ISBN, they all seem to be japanese. and they don't appear modified. anyways. hopefully that helps.Lucia Black (talk) 20:19, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Now, your scans met with the link I provide. I thought they're different because the titles were changed when they were collected but I will never suspect your scans were in Chinese. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 05:53, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think this page is more reliable. Chinese pages are probably illegal copy from the site. Click 試し読みする on the left and see. Other volumes are available at その他の巻. As for Trigun, click トライガン. As for anime, ja:WP has the list and it says the ja title of the episode #7 is just "B.D.N.". And I correct some ja and Romanization. Oda Mari (talk) 17:27, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well we are using only the table of contents. like i said, i just verified the ISBNs. i "shouldve" suspected something when i saw the table of contents in vol.1 using comics sans font. so that was my mistake. Either way, i will be posting more chapters now.Lucia Black (talk) 23:15, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
