Touring Cities[edit]

Nice venue and I can't imagine loading everyone up and doing another city the next day. But I don't know what state that some of these cities are in. It just refers to the United States. I know I could look them up, but can anybody...you know change it?

Lilith Fair[edit]

This article used to say that Lollapalooza was done entirely by men, hence the entirely-female Lilith Fair. That's not correct, as a number of females have performed at Lollapalooza. The very first one, in 1991, had Siouxsie and the Banshees as one of the main headliners, which was obviously fronted by the very female Siouxsie. Other female bands on the tour between 1991 and the start of Lilith fair in 1997 include, just going off ones I recognize offhand, Babes in Toyland (1993), Hole (1995), Elastica (1995), and Patti Smith (1995), --Delirium 07:03, May 2, 2004 (UTC)

As I understand it, the Lilith Fair was created to promote music by women (and for women?), and this is an important aspect of the tour. Lollapalooza may not be entirely men, but it is predominantly men, and is aimed at a male audience. This can be seen in everything on the webpage of the last one in 1999, http://www.lilithfair.com Sarah McLachlan's view is also in an interview at http://www.cybergrrl.com/fs.jhtml?/fun/musicgrrl/lilith/ I think we should have SOMETHING about the female influence/goals of the Lilith Fair in the article. Concern about intro "nicknames"[edit]

I think having negative nicknames in the intro to the article leans too far towards a certain POV. It would be perfectly correct to mention it in a later part of the article, but to immediately list "breast-fest" and "lesbian" whatever, sets an almost misogynist vibe from the start. Please, let us move it. Someone put a little link -a great article on the Lilith Fair in the first actual paragraph, and it has links to other articles that can be constructively used in this piece too... but please, no nicknames in the introduction. Fiona Apple Drama[edit]

Origin of the name[edit]

I've always taken for granted (as has everyone I've ever known) that Lilith was taken from the Jewish story of Adam's first proto-feminist wife. But does anyone have a source for this from Sarah McLachlan? Bfootdav (talk) 04:03, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Article really does beg for some kind of connection to be made between the name of the concert tour and the Jewish [mythological] "proto-feminist". I think this might serve as an adequate source:[1]

ticket[edit]

I think they should have a ticket gimmick like If you put up a youtube video of you doing your art thing you get better cheaper tickets to promote women doing art This could build venue attendence as well

"Billy Maning Q."[edit]

The line-up for the Village Stage, 1997, includes "Billy Maning Q." (sic). Google returns a few dozen results for "Billy Maning Q", "Billy Maning", "Billy Manning", all of them either nonsense or mirrors of this page or computer-generated nonsense; does someone have a scan of a poster showing the line-up, or a magazine advert?
