Notes[edit]

He set an NBA record by scoring 34 points in a quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on December 30, 2000.

I don't know who put that in there, but all research indicates this never happened. See first of all this list of all NBA games that were played on the day in question, and you'll see the Mavs and Timberwolves didn't even play each other that night!

More pressing is this list of records from the official NBA site. Although the records are only through the '01-'02 season, that would comprise the night of the alleged "feat". And it's right there:

Most points, one quarter 33-George Gervin, San Antonio at New Orleans, April 9, 1978 (2nd qtr.)

Hey, I love Wally World as much as the next guy, and he's the second best player the Wolves have after KG, but ascribing a ridiculous accomplishment to him is no way to show love! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.205.168.39 (talkcontribs) 00:58, December 28, 2004

  • OK, looking at the article's history, it seems that little bit of apocrypha has been there since the beginning. The original post was, and I quote, Wally is a basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He set an NBA record by scoring 34 points in a quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on December 30, 2000. He is known for his boyish good looks and deadly jump shot. Uh-huh... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.205.168.39 (talkcontribs) 01:06, December 28, 2004
