Untitled[edit]

This is my first wikipedia offering, any suggestions welcome. I chose the picture of him playing with St.Louis because it gives more style to the 'old-time' hockey and the fact he's in the HOF. --Cquilliam 05:54, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman 05:14, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found:

  • "Born February 26, 1957, in New York City," comma after 1957 unneeded.
WP:DATESNO says to include that comma when an MDY date is used in the middle of a sentence.
  • "Tom was a long time employee on the ice" pretty sure longtime is one word for that case.
    Fixed
  • "While Mullen had a successful college career, he went undrafted by any National Hockey League (NHL) team" Anything in the sources say why? I imagine not, but thought I'd ask.
The reason is obvious to me - smaller guy playing in a non-traditional (at the time) area, but I would have to check through some sources to see if I can fill that in.
    I'll be damned. I found a source that said exactly that! Resolute 03:09, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "remove a herniated disc in his back, an injury for which he could not identify a specific cause" not sure if he is the best to use. wouldn't it be doctors looking for the cause?
He would be referring to being unable to place a specific hit or incident as the cause. It is implied that the injury was the result of a series of hits over time, likely related to his playing style (which was to get into 'dirty' areas, as noted in the appropriate section) I'll clarify this slightly, but the doctor's opinion on a specific cause is not available.
  • The body of the article is a bit stat heavy, and most of it is just noting goals and points. That's always a tough thing to work around with athletes, but is there more out there on him? i.e. did be become a locker room leader or lack thereof at any points? Things like that can help out the article. This is brought up a bit in playing style, but if there's anything that could be put into the body that would help.
Added some of his reactions to being traded, arrival in Calgary, and the like.

I'll put the article on hol dand will pass when the issues are fixed. Wizardman 04:02, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Addressed the easy stuff. Your comments on why he was undrafted and some additional input into his playing career section will require a check of additional sources. I will look to that this weekend. Thanks! Resolute 16:24, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, no problem; will check on this tomorrow. Wizardman 04:57, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeesh... busy, busy. Sorry for taking so long! Resolute 03:09, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem; I know how that is. Everything looks good now, so the article passes. Wizardman 03:44, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Thank you kindly! Resolute 03:50, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
