Etymology[edit]

I have restored this section to it's form before the edit by Zacwill to "Remove OR and bring section into line with reliable sources". As there is no single, accepted etymology it is important to present all the contending derivations, which the original text did.

Firstly, removing much of the existing section except for what pertains to the two OE derivations just seems spurious, especially on the basis of "source reliability". When the sources being removed are Mills' A Dictionary of British Place Names (Oxford Press) and Owen's Place-Names of Flintshire (University of Wales) and the one source retained is the local History Society, I do not see where the source criticism could come from.

Secondly, while the editor opted to retain the two OE etymologies, they have removed the criticism of both (i.e the -lēah element). Removing competing etymologies maybe understandable, but to also remove the criticisms of those you have chosen to keep is disingenuous at best. @Cymrogogoch: I did not remove either of those sources. Rather, I rewrote the section to reflect what they actually say. Neither Mills nor Owen presents a Welsh etymology for the name. I can't even find the phrase "Bwlch Clai" in Owen's work. If you believe that the OE etymologies are problematic and that the name can in fact be traced to Welsh, then you must find a reliable source that says so (and I don't mean a webpage published by an amateur historical society).
