Kyoto Fushimi Inari shrine

This image depicts a row of vermilion-colored torii arches at the entrance to the Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto, Japan. Thousands of these gates line the paths of the shrine. Successful Japanese businessmen have traditionally purchased a gate in gratitude to Inari, the god of fertility, rice, and foxes.
