Untitled[edit]

Buena Vista Social Club?, 2000

I've not seen it. Could 'someone' write a review of it?
The End of Violence also deserves a write-up, imho. I've seen both films but so long ago as I doubt the justice my write-up would do them.

Biography, Films[edit]

Anyone care to expand Wim's bio and film analysis? If I did it, it'd probably sound like a rip-off from his website. --metzerly 01:43, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?[edit]

His last name is common in Jewish families...is he is a Jew? --152.163.101.10 06:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. Cott12 Talk 18:39, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wenders and Author?[edit]

Didn't know that. The intro says so, but no works cited. I know he's a script writer but didn't know he was an author. Anyone?75.177.152.237 00:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only book I could find authored by Wim Wenders was a picture book called Pictures from the Surface of the Earth. So I removed 'author' from the description. Unless someone can name some books by him I could not find. Which is quite possible. Cott12 Talk 22:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question account of name "Wim"[edit]

I think the story of how Wim got his name under "Early life" needs to be cited. The problem with it is that Wikipedia has an awfully large number of articles about people from this region with the first name Wim born before and after Wenders. Examples: Wim Duisenberg, Wim Zwaag, Wim Anderiesen, Wim Blockmans, Wim Vriend, Wim Delvoye, Wim Suurbier, Wim Eyckmans, etc. Cott12 Talk 13:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wim is simply short for Wilhelm.

I went ahead and deleted it. Please put back if there is a source saying German authorities would not allow the name Wim in 1945. Cott12 Talk 14:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missing film[edit]

It appears that the 1984 film Docu Drama is missing from the filmography. Badagnani 05:01, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also the 1970 TV film Polizeifilm and the 1969 film Alabama: 2000 Light Years. Badagnani 05:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also Drei Amerikanische LP's (1969) (TV), Silver City (1969), Same Player Shoots Again (1968), Klappenfilm (1968), Victor I. (1968), and Schauplätze (1967). Badagnani 05:07, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

It's "vim venders", like they would in German, correct? 192.235.1.34 22:34, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. Seems to be something worth noting 93.97.113.174 (talk) 22:49, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"American" artist?[edit]

In the 'early life' section, it states that Friedlander is American, which I don't think is true. His Wikipedia page certainly doesn't say so..... 24.143.39.185 (talk) 13:49, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Part Jewish, revisited?[edit]

I realise the question has been asked before, but not satisfactorily answered. Wenders looks very, very stereotypically Jewish... in a Noam Chomsky kind of way. Maybe is it just the glasses? I find it hard to believe there is not some kind of Jewish background here, but currently we only mention his Catholic background. Are there any German sources which cover this?
