External Links[edit]

I'd like to add these external links. They're pretty informative and fill in any gaps left by the article, such as no list of the best artists and albums. There used to be a lot more external links previously on this page, instead of just the shoutcast one.

Best Goa Albums and Tracks - I wrote this so yeah there is a conflict of interest. But I recall there used to be a lot more external links and this was one of them. Besides its really useful if you want a list of the best stuff.

Hello there. If these links contain reliably sourced information that is not already in the article, then please summarize that material and add it to the article using those links as references. Otherwise, there's no real need for them in the external links section, just having them there doesn't improve the article. You might consider adding them to something like the Open Directory Project. I'm going to go ahead and remove them.TheRingess (talk) 16:58, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Reliably sourced information is hard to come by on Goa Trance because it wasn't mainstream and thus not covered by media. And if you've checked the links, two of them are well known forums dedicated to goa and psy trance. The others are in-depth websites/articles that are hard to summarise simply because of their length. The newskool goa trance link is written by a founder of the Suntrip label which pioneered the genre, and summarising that would be a bit like plagiarising imo. The Best of Goa Trance link gives a good overview of the best albums and tracks in the genre. I would add this to the article, but it would inevitably lead to sparring over what deserves to be included as "the best", which is why that is simply left best as an external link. The roadjunky link is the personal experience of someone who was there in Goa during the peak of the Goa parties and is narrated in first person. I'm not sure how that can be summarised.
I agree the Goa Trance Primer link is not absolutely necessary, though it is useful and can be left out.

Just because something is hard to summarize doesn't mean it's impossible to summarize. Give it a shot.TheRingess (talk) 04:22, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you into Goa Trance btw? Have a look at the links and you'll see they're very useful indeed and they cover gaps in the article. I've explained why it isn't possibly to summarise each of the links in turn, and thus should be kept as external links. Could you explain why you feel the links are spam when they're all relevant?
karan (talk) 07:02, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems there may be a problem with the Section X link. It goes to a rock group, not a trance group.--Dchmelik (talk) 23:30, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simply Red[edit]

I don't know much about this music (that's why I'm reading the article) but Simply Red looks a little incongruous, surely it must be a mistake, or a joke? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.197.60.135 (talk) 13:07, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this (Thepillow (talk) 17:44, 23 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Difference psytrance/goa trance[edit]

Perhaps a section or even an entire page should be devoted to the difference between psytrance and goatrance. In neither the goa trance not the psytrance article this is made very clear. (Thepillow (talk) 17:45, 23 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

You could do that, but its just one of those things where you have to listen to the music to get the difference imo karan (talk) 18:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

maybe WP:CV[edit]

which came first, wiki article or the psytrance article? Because some sections of one are largely lifted form the other. [psytraveller.net/Goa_Trance]

Grye (talk) 16:25, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia article, unquestionably. --Izno (talk) 17:42, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Releases[edit]

I removed all albums from this list being the list serves absolutely no purpose other than for Goa artists to self-serve by posting their content there. "Notable" releases is an inappropriate title, and as such - I have removed the entire section.

time travel[edit]

does the goa trance contains what about time machine? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artiomjar (talkcontribs) 10:03, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is gibberish[edit]

"Trance dancing to mind expanding dance music on hallucinogens was the mantle of the Goa mantra. It was not a night club furnaced on alcohol. Hash and acid were the principal heightens. It was an anarchistic alternative counter culture. DIY in psychedelic exploration with mind expanding future rhythm machine music." Srsly? · rodii · 16:07, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vote for deletion[edit]

This category is a sub-genre of music not a genre. In this case the genre is Electronic music. Its reputation as a notable sub-genre is highly questionable. For these reasons I vote to remove the article or at least move it to the afore mentioned genre. --Xavier (talk) 02:28, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
