Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Shivaji

Reason: Disruptive editing on the title of Shivaji, without discussing it on the talk page. Frequent edit warring and suspecting meatpuppetry. Imperial[AFCND] 10:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been under indefinite semi-protection for about five years now. It does not appear to me that going to ECP would make much of a difference as many contributors already have that user right. The only thing I could imagine doing that could force more talk page discussion would be imposing 1RR. Would you be amenable to that? (I have put a long-overdue CTOPS notice on the talk page). Daniel Case (talk) 20:33, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a strong opinion, but looking at edits from the last 2 weeks, 3 out of 8 users involved in the dispute over titles are not EC so ECP probably would improve the situation over the long run. I suspect that even if EC editors reach consensus, the title dispute will continue. Perhaps full protection for a week or two followed by indefinite ECP? Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:26, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Soad Hosny

Reason: Persistent disruptive editings and removal of sources by many "new" accounts and IPs. Not a single edit by that recent attack on the page is with sources, they appear to be teamed up. Fragrant Peony (talk) 22:10, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ok but can the draft be deleted Okmrman (talk) 22:59, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
G13 requires that the page hasn't been edited by a human in >6 months. It will potentially be eligible in mid-May. -- Euryalus (talk) 23:06, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Euryalus But afaict now it has been recently edited by humans. I'll try xfd. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:52, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: the nomination for speedy deletion doesn't reset the clock for a G13, which is still ticking from when the draft was last edited by its creator back in November 2023. It's clearly going nowhere as an article so no objection to an Xfd, but imho because speedy deletion is single-determiner the criteria are quite strict for good reason. :) -- Euryalus (talk) 08:24, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, didn't now that. I looked at PROD, but no. The Xfd [1] will be mostly harmless. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:31, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It will indeed. Deleted already per IAR. -- Euryalus (talk) 08:59, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of Disney live-action adaptations and remakes of Disney animated films

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent addition of unreliable sources to justify content that has been repeatedly removed. Probably needs to be longer protection. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:25, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Taylor Swift

Reason: Why isn't this page ECP? I think it should be ECP because it is prone to edit warring from Autoconfirmed accounts, and it is a high traffic article 125.160.114.232 (talk) 23:47, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Criticism of Amnesty International

    Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:A/I/PIA. nableezy - 00:16, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Nableezy Deletes every time the paragraph that Amnesty claimed that Israel imprisoned a Palestinian writer while he was a terrorist who murdered and kidnapped an Israeli soldier. He supports violence according to his profile so he doesn't want (or can) understand why this is a problem. 84.110.218.178 (talk) 08:23, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Let's not forget - this is a page about *criticism of Amnesty*, and the paragraph is about Israel. So why he deleted it? 84.110.218.178 (talk) 08:29, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. This is too heavy handed to invoke WP:PIA WP:ECR, even for related content protection with an expiration. Last PIA edit was Nov 2023, and seeing as this IP editor has now been told about the WP:XC tenure requirement for that WP:CTOP area, that incident is probably done. If this page experiences another PIA-related issue by a non-tenured user in 2024, feel free to relist. El_C 11:33, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Draft:Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (soundtrack)

Reason: It was protected for none reason, I wanted to submit the draft because it seems that it is ready to be an article, but it was protected "indefinitely" and I don't have an account on Wikipedia. 190.21.184.81 (talk) 08:24, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected – It was protected for a reason: a long string of disruptive edits from IPs geolocating to Santiago de Chile, just like yours. Favonian (talk) 08:58, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't "vandalise" Wikipedia, I only added information, but another users disagreed with what I added. 190.21.184.81 (talk) 10:18, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
