There will be lots of expansion here. I just wanted to get the basic reference in. This page needs to be kept separate from content appropriate for Ling-Temco-Vought. This page should only reference the aerospace activities, whereas the other page is for the holding company, and later, the steel company. -Joseph 03:55, 2004 Sep 12 (UTC)

Confusion[edit]

Vought history seems pretty striaghtforward until the LTV acquisition. After that, it was split into numerous divisions, reorganized in different reincarnations, and finally emerged as it is today. I'm just wondering if anyone has any input on how this should be handled. Obviously the two articles (Vought and LTV) shouldn't overlap too much, but it seems like LTV was a part of Vought's history just as much as Vought played a critical role in LTV's history. From what I gather, Vought Aeuronautics was a separate division under LTV Aerospace, and there was a separate Vought missiles or something group. But afterward there were reorganizations and name changes. I'm somewhat of a newbie at this and not too sure how this is handled. Thanks. Joshdboz 01:28, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see nothing in the article about involvement with Airbus. Yest according to http://www.avitrader.com/ on a February 26, 2007 posting, Vought had delivered it's 750th wing component for the Airbus 330/340 series. They expect to deliver their 800th unit October 2007. This seems like a substantial role.

I know so little about this subject that I am loath to edit myself. -- Unsigned edit by RScalf 09:08, March 23, 2007 (UTC)

I added Nashville site description, which supplies wing components for Airbus.--Yasobara 17:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounced[edit]

I have never heard the name spoken. Is it "vort" or "vowt" or "vow" or something else? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 07:46, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In an American accent it's pronounced the same as the words ought, thought, fought, etc. Joshdboz (talk) 09:10, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some things to add to workshare section[edit]

Just FYI if anyone wanted to add more to the workshare section. Vought also works on the Gulfstream G550, G450, G350 and 500, the Hawker 800, the Cessna Citation X, the C-5 Galaxy, the E-2 Hawkeye and the Global Hawk and Global Hawk BAMS. They also have an MRO facility and Test Labs. I know they have been doing drop tests for the F-35 VTOL recently and when production begins, they will be making the rear epennage for it. So maybe if somebody wants to add this.......heres the link with the information.

Triumph merger?[edit]

Does anyone know about what is going on with the merger? I just got offered a job there and was wondering if anyone from Vought out here knew if they were restructuring or laying off? I know they have been cutting off assemblers in Grand Prarie. The merger is official in July 2010 ... just wanted to see if anyone heard any rumors or news? It's interesting that you should mention Grand Prairie, the location of the plant. The article says the company's headquarters are in Dallas, but are they really in Grand Prairie, which is a little southwest of Dallas, about halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth? — QuicksilverT @ 03:51, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
