Question[edit]

Why does this page include the paragraph:

It is disputed whether this article should be included in Wikipedia.

Because to me the purpose of the page seems unclear. The page doesn't mention what means by community, community information and so. As in the main namespace, pointless pages need to be gone. Also, because the policy for the inclusion of links is not stated, it might mislead readers that there are not more so-called community information-related pages in wikipedia, which is probably not the case. -- Taku 20:44, Feb 12, 2004 (UTC)
To me, your stated objections are also unclear. Is it that you feel that this page has not been properly integrated with the other Wikipedia general information oriented articles? I see the "Part of the Community Information Series" tags on various other Wikipedia pages (do a "What links here?" from the article to find many of them). I personally find the wording within the article to be awkward, for example, "Repository of official wisdom ...". What's that? Maybe a new article title and some rewording would make it blend in with the older Wikipedia helptext? Or, maybe it is redundant. Bevo 00:09, 13 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Those tags are also in dispute. I understand that having more structure cannot be bad. But putting those tags only add more confusion about jagons for new comers. Community? Wisdom?? For example, Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines is a good page because it explains why we need policies or guidelines in the first place. Anyway, as you see a new titile and rewording might help. But isn't that the same as having this not at all because we already have pages that make more sense? -- Taku 00:21, Feb 13, 2004 (UTC)

Optim's Linkies[edit]

  • I had started something similar a long time ago. See User:Optim/Links and use it if you like it. Optim 00:48, 20 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Redirecting to community main page[edit]

With the new community main page, I think 168's project is no longer needed. We should be able to get everything we need on the new community page, so I propose to redirect there. --Michael Snow 20:12, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Your suggestion makes no sense at all and could have been said with regard to the old Main Page design. The Main Page is part of the problem, not the solution. There should be links to all the subdirectories like this one from the Main Page, b/c there's not enough space on the Main Page to put together everything that ought to be grouped.168...|...Talk 21:42, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
