Hi. Please do not put silly jokes into article space. If you keep doing so, it can be considered vandalism. Serious contributions are welcome. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 04:51, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Embrace the laughter[edit]

Excusé moi? How is it that a few serious articles - some of which I watch - can be continually vandalized by the same perpetrator despite numerous reverts, but I can’t post a mere two hilarious attempts at reaching the coveted bad joke pages without being accused of the same crime? There’s a difference between posting wonderfully crafted - and highly entertaining, I might add - articles of one’s own, and deliberately setting out to destroy the thoughtful work of others. The internet has many forums for humor and silly fun. As Wikipedia is a project to build an encyclopedia, it is not in that category. I hope you'll find a forum that finds your writing hilarious elsewhere. Serious articles are welcome here. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 16:20, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Just FYI, I have contributed quite a few serious articles to this project, as well as extensive copy edits of the factual variety. At least one of my articles - oddly enough, since it's not a disputed topic - is often vandalized. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Creating the occasional joke article is not in the same catagory as deliberately ruining someone else's work. Judging by the condescending tone you've adopted in your reply, you take easily deleted articles too seriously. It's not like some kid is going to stumble across "sexilicious" and be led astray :) Joke pages aren't going to bring about the downfall of wikipedia - not in the same way as the 'work' of people who travel around this site adding garbage to factual articles. *sigh* But if you insist on sucking all the joy out of life, then what can I, the Masked Losah do, but turn out serious material? Infrogmation adds: There's a huge internet out there. Wikipedia is one small specific piece. There are places for silly essays, strings of bad puns, political debate, insults, pornography, geneological research etc etc. There are great portions of the internet where writing an encyclopedia style article would be off topic. Take a look at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. I'm not interested in further debate with you on this topic. I'm quite sure that many of the drive-by vandals consider their addition of random obcenties to articles to be HILARIOUS. If you think that my objecting to such alleged hilarity to be "sucking the joy out of life", it sounds to me like you have a startlingly narrow conception of potential for joy. Good luck in expanding your joy, whether contributing to encyclopedic articles is part of it or not. Ciao, -- Infrogmation 22:02, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

For the record, it's your inability to see the difference between posting joke articles and wrecking the work of others that makes you so short-sighted. But, boy-oh-boy, your tone indicates your capacities for joy and intellectual understanding so outstrip mine. Masked Loser 00:58, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
