nearby and adjacent[edit]

What's the intended difference between "nearby stations" and "adjacent stations" ? As I understand it:

nearby = a short walk away
adjacent = next station on some line from Gare du Nord.

According to these definitions Magenta is nearby and not adjacent. --FvdP 19:48, 5 Mar 2004 (UTC)

adjacent means contiguous, neighboroughing or bordering on, so Magenta is indeed adjacent.

other gare du nord[edit]

there's also a band called Gare du Nord (http://www.garedunord.ch).
there's another band called gare du nord (http://www.garedunord.eu).
both bands are not named after the paris railway station

180 milloin passengers ?[edit]

Are we certain about the 180 million passengers figure? I know it's quoted on the French wikipedia - but I'd always understood St Lazare is by far the busiest station in Paris. Can anyone verify?

Exile 20:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Lazare station is the busiest station for suburban traffic. (With 100 million passengers)

Gare du Nord is the busiest railway station (180 million passengers) Minato ku 10:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Number of platforms[edit]

It says le Gare du Nord has 44 platforms and yet when I was there I only remember about 30 platforms so where are the the rest of them?

Are their underground terminal platforms along with the RER platforms?

No, there are 38 on the main level and 4 on the RER level. There are 42 passenger platforms and 2 service bays. Anywikiuser (talk) 19:10, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really the third-busiest railway station in the world?[edit]

For example, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbay, the busiest station in India is likely to have more passengers than Paris Gare de Nord. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.2.1.148 (talk) 18:16, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For example: Shinjuku 3.6 passengers / day, Ikebukuro 2.7 m/day, Shibuya 2.2m/day, Yokohama 2.1 m/day, Tokyo 1,1m/day, Shinagawa 0.9 m/day which are higher than the 500'000 per day for Gare du Nord —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.240.212.2 (talk) 12:01, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And that's only looking at Japan. Even Penn Station in NYC serves over 600,000 per day. If there are no hard numbers for Gare du Nord, this "third busiest in the world" stuff has to go. I looked through the French version of the article, and managed to find this figure [1] in 2002 for 180 million. -Multivariable (talk) 04:46, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Location of Station[edit]

It might be useful to include information about the location of the station within the city, e.g., which arrondisement (sp?) it's in, and which ones are adjacent. For instance, if one were trying to find lodging, tourist attractions, etc. nearby. Such information would likely be notable. --Davecampbell (talk) 14:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Section: Train services[edit]

I think the section Train services needs to be reorganized, but I'm not sure what the best way is. I know this isn't Wikivoyage, but still. George8211 (talk | contribs) 11:39, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Sculpture in picture?[edit]

The text mentions there are series of symbolic statues representing cities in the station. Is the statue (apparently rear view of a nude woman) in pic captioned 'Gare du Nord view from upstairs" one of them. It would be clarifying if the sculpture could be indentified for readers' benefit.Cloptonson (talk) 15:20, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gare du Nord

The Gare du Nord, officially Paris-Nord, is one of six large mainline railway station termini in Paris, France. In 2015, it was the busiest railway station in Europe by total passenger numbers, with more than 700,000 passengers alighting or disembarking per day. The current Gare du Nord was designed by French architect Jacques Ignace Hittorff and constructed between 1861 and 1865, replacing an earlier and much smaller terminal that was operational between 1846 and 1860. This interior view of the station's main hall was captured from the balcony level.

6 or 7 Terminal Staions[edit]

The Gare du Nord page says there are 7 termini in Paris but the Gare de l'Est page says there are 6. I don't know which is correct but I'm certain both pages should say the same thing. Rjshook (talk) 13:05, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
