Plot[edit]

Added a bit more to the actual plot of the film. I hate including spoilers so I did not include the 'twist' or anything

about the ending...[edit]

i liked it but i didnt quite get the ending, what was that photo at the end about? why'd he smile? - seemed unfitting to me —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.174.252.49 (talk) 03:19, 11 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

You realise this is the photo taken by the tourist after Sgt. OH returns the red hat which had blown across the border?

The photo just shows them at a happier time, all together and yet devided by their country/duty. It shows Sgt. LEE trying to protect Sgt. OH from having his photo taken, which reflects Sgt. LEE's actions in the movie, protecting Sgt. OH. The Muss (talk) 16:21, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What most probably missed...[edit]

What is key to notice is the inconsistencies. Like the zoom in on the polished shoes of Sgt. Lee Soo-hyeok (Byung-hun Lee), noticing how Nam Sung-shik (Tae-woo Kim) earlier had had that as a mannerism (yes a common feature in the military) -That nods towards something being wrong about who was who or the bullet or thirdly who even had the pistol in the first place. Noting that he could draw, which is an artistic feature and often mastered by those who spend much time on that craft it should suggest it is indeed misstaken personality - that as nod about the picture of their girlfriends in the guardpost. That together leads to one thought about whom shot first and implicates that one posed as the other in the gunfight and that it didn't play out as it was shown to do (because of quick to draw) - but it doesn't exclude other possible cause of events (as in Sgt. Oh Kyeong-pil shooting the third NK solider when he didn't back down if he had the pistol in question and were faster to react)... Thanking Sgt. Oh Kyeong-pil (Kang-ho Song) and the soldier specifying he could get hanged for doing so, has to do with showing respect for actions by Sgt. Oh Kyeong-pil (probably for saving face). Note is to be done with him and his saying about composure and bravery to win battles.

The probable cause of events that is suggested at but remains hidden is that Sgt. Oh Kyeong-pil (Kang-ho Song) dismantled the situation (note how Sgt. Lee Soo-hyeok reacted to being in another stressfull situation, mine) after it had gotten out of hand, to avoid a possible war (note the early reassurance by Pyo that a shooting between guards wouldn't cause a war while the movie stresses how they are on the absolute frontline). Neither sides wants a war, one side creates less havoc that can lead up to one. This also implies that blood is thicker than water, that the 4 Koreans created a bond that was stronger that the two different Korean nationalities, also denoting why it was key to protect the truth (politically senitive information that wasn't ready to come out). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.73.31.212 (talk) 00:28, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Jsa.movist.jpg[edit]

Image:Jsa.movist.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Trivia Section[edit]

The fact about the movie being given to Kim Jong-il could be moved to the Significance section. 76.88.175.235 (talk) 09:27, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation for Incomplete tag[edit]

Per WP:RESPTAG, I will now explain why I added an incomplete tag to the Plot section:

I watched this film a couple of years ago, and though I can't remember exactly what happened in it, I'm pretty sure the plot summary here is withholding the ending of the film under the misapprehension that Wikipedia can't give spoilers. If I recall correctly, the ending reveals that the North and South Koreans were actually friends and they visited each other fairly regularly. But I can't remember why it was that the shooting happened. たろ人 (talk) 23:43, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
