Team Nickname[edit]

"which is in turn a reference to Husein Gradaščević, a Bosniak general who fought for Bosnian autonomy in 19th century, also known as Dragon of Bosnia."

This is simply false! Just as it says here Husein Gradaščević was a Bosniak leader, and not Serb and Croat, whereas Bosnia and Herzegovina, just like the football federation is made of Bosnians, Serbs and Croats! Furthermore, 'zmaj' is a common nickname given in Serbo-Croatian languages to leaders, mostly men who appear strong and destined for glory.

'Zmajevi' (dragons) a nickname for the Bosnian team, however it was coined by the sports commentator Marjan Mijajlovic, while commenting Bundesliga games for SportKlub and later reaffirmed when he commented the game Bosnia and Herzegovina v Belgium. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.104.153.108 (talk) 04:22, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't exactly true, Marijan referred to Ibišević in one of the Hoffenheim games as "Zmaj od Bosne" (Dragon of Bosnia), and you can say what ever you want but in this context Marijan was pretty unambiguous. Later he referred to both Salihović and Ibišević as Zmajevi, which he derived from "Zmaj od Bosne" and his first mentioning in case of Ibišević. Now we can debate what he meant or did not meant, but one thing is certain - "Zmaj od Bosne" was well known expression in Bosnian language in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on historical figure Gradaščević, and not just "as common name in Serbo-Croatian language to leaders". Expression was known all over ex-Yugoslavia, but never on scale like in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was often used in everyday talk used by common people but exactly in this context. It was even used for premium brand of well known plumb brandy "šljivovica" from Gradačac area named "Zmaj od Bosne", beside also well known brand "Gradačanka".

My point is that, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, "Zmaj od Bosne" (Dragon of Bosnia) actually really is a motive if not foundation for the national team nickname "Zmajevi" (Dragons), and not just some whim of coincidence or what ever. Before the war nickname was accepted by all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, what ever context was (national team didn't exist at the time) and regardless of their ethnicity, which really give us a clue that doesn't mean that it referring directly to Gradaščević who was Bosniak, it's a simply expression motivated by well known name and broadly accepted in Bosnia on scale unnoticed in other parts of Ex-Yugoslavia, which you obviously do not accept in fear of refusal by potential supporters from within Serbs and Croats - but that's another story.--Santasa99 (talk) 20:07, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The colours of the Tricots[edit]

The colour of the footballshirts are out of date. Today the BIH football team is wearing blue shirts and blue shorts with white Socks. And the "away colours" are: white shirts, white shorts with blue socks. The German version of wikipedia has the right colours of the new tricot colours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.176.89.52 (talk) 19:38, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fined both[edit]

"to prevent nationalistic rioting. UEFA fined both football federations when Serb nationalists attacked and injured several Bosnian fans."

Why UEFA fined both FF if Serbian nationalists attacked Bosnian fans? And why stating that Serbian fans are nationalists, someone interviewed them? And Bosnian fans are not? User:YossarianBA —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.116.149.238 (talk) 11:25, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Players[edit]

I removed all Players that played for SFR Yugoslavia, cause this article deals with the Bosnian National Team and not to disrespect those great players, but they already have an honour table on the SFRJ team article.--Vjecnobordo (talk) 21:11, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension, quality of English[edit]

Given the developments today regarding the suspension, was curious as to whether anyone is considering providing more information, or greater detail about the nature of the problem within the association. Also (though this applies to many articles throughout football) just having a brief skim through, it looks as though the English here could do with some improvement. - danijel - 23:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have refined the Suspension section. Should now include a little bit more detail as to what happened and why. In due time will add more information. BiHVolim - 21:46, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let us all agree on changes[edit]

Please stop reverting all the current changes to the way it was 100 years ago! We feel you are vandalizing the page. We like the new tables. LEAVE THEM ALONE. You may be banned. BiHVolim - 10:46, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contribution disputes by some members[edit]

Speak your mind here about contributing to these pages.

I think from the HISTORY/CONTRIBUTION Logs you can see what and how much I have contributed (see my personal profile page for summary). Please keep that in mind when modifying existing looks of the page. Rather than change the tables, add to them as I only want best for the page so that people with less knowledge on these pages can get some insight easily - due to my designs looking simple the way most other national pages look. Thank you. BiHVolim - 21:46, 06 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Message for 213.112.123.232:

PLEASE do not change the tables the way they were 20 months ago. Rather just update information. whats the use of Head to Head table in RANDOM order. I have sorted it in alphabetical order per continent. Leave it this way. Also changing player stats tables to be smaller in size RUINS the look in higher resolution monitors. PLS BEWARE OF THIS. I have left the results table the way you designed it and you still keep changing things around. Thank you.BiHVolim - 10:46, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proper warning info[edit]

Hello, Thanks for your feedback. I would like to know exactly how to warn someone who has not only vandalized a public page but has gone further to do damage on my personal page: Sajo10 is the same user as an ip address I mentioned before. Please check Revision history of User:BiHVolim. Thanks (talk) 13:58, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see that Sajo10 has a history of unhelpful editing, and also that it looks very likely that 213.112.123.66 is the same person. I also see that Sajo10 has received a very large number of messages over a long period about copyright issues and creating unsourced articles, but, as far as I can see, none about vandalism, and the IP talk page has never received any messages at all. I am also very surprised, in view of the string of messages to Sajo10 about problems, that he/she has never been warned about the possibility of a block. As for vandalism, though, I cannot see any evidence of that. Some of the issues appear to be differences of opinion between you and the other editor, rather than vandalism issues (for example, disagreement about such matters as whether to include accents on non-English names of people). Other differences involve details about scoring statistics, and only someone with a detailed knowledge of the subject could possibly be able to see at a glance whether that is vandalism or not. If it is vandalism, then you need to explain why, if you want an administrator to take any action. You can't expect an administrator who knows nothing about the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team to spend hours looking up their history to decide whether there is vandalism involved.
The first thing to do is to contact the editor involved to explain your concerns. The place to do that is on the relevant talk page, either User talk:Sajo10 or User talk:213.112.123.66, as the case may be. There are ready-made message templates at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace to use for various kinds of disruptive editing such as vandalism. However, it looks to me as though in this case it may be a matter of a good faith editor who does things you disagree with, in which case giving a vandalism warning will be unhelpful, and you should take the trouble to write your own message explaining why you disagree, rather than using a templated message. If the other editor thinks that what he or she is doing is right, then no matter how much you disagree, nothing useful will be achieved by saying "stop vandalising": you need to explain why you disagree. If, on the other hand, there really is vandalism, then it is a subtle kind of vandalism that is not obvious to an outsider (such as me). In that case it is necessary to explain why it is vandalism, so that if and when the case needs to be considered by an administrator, it will be clear to that administrator what the problem is. Therefore I strongly advise you to explain on the relevant user talk page what the problem is, whether or not it is vandalism.

Thank you for that absolutely helpful response. I will have to re-read and give it a good go. Cheers once again. (talk) 10:58, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At 19:03 on 15 Oct 2013, I changed the first sentence of this article from:

> The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team has never qualified for a major tournament but has come close on multiple occasions

To:

> Prior to the 2014 World Cup qualifying, the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team had never qualified for a major tournament; it did, however, come close on multiple occasions

This change was reverted and I was instructed not to vandalize the page.

I do not understand how my change constituted vandalism. The statement I replaced is no longer true, and the reverted statement is untrue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.88.238 (talk) 19:20, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
