François Roberday

Hello! First of all, thank you for all the wonderful work you've been doing on French Wikipedia and here, I really really appreciate it. I translated several articles you created, mostly for French baroque organists, and I'm very glad to see you're back (I think you were inactive for some time..?).

About this particular article, I tried translating François Roberday once from the French version but I couldn't get what beau-frère meant, no dictionary I have could explain it. Are you sure its brother-in-law? If not, could you explain the term to me so that I could make a proper translation? Jashiin 12:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Costeley

Hi Gérard; it's good to see you editing on en: again!

My source on Costeley's birthplace was the New Grove, the online version (www.grovemusic.com). The most recent source they list, from which the place might be derived, is probably:

Of course, I'll get to work right now! By the way, I got my hands on some of Roberday's music yesterday (unfortunately, in sheet music form only) and its some of the most beautiful organ music I've ever heard. Thank you for creating the article on him - there's virtually NO information about his life or works in the Internet, I would never know if if weren't for you.

I was wondering if you were willing to translate the large organ composers lists pages like [1] or [2] (the text of which could go to the already existing French baroque organists) sometime? Thanks for your offer! That would be great; I have not studied the French Wikipedia much, so I'm not sure exactly what is there. I'm working on German composers at the moment, but I am moving soon to French Romantic, probably starting with Boëly and making progress towards Duruflé and others. Hello again, I fixed the article and added the list from the French Wikipedia. I have a question though, you mention a "Jacobins' church" - I thought fr:Club des Jacobins was a political movement, so I didn't quite understand this, is there a religious movement with the same name? Ruckers

Salut Gérard; Le W-E prochain je vais ratter l'occasion de visiter le Ruckers du musée à Colmar avec un facteur de clavecins. J'ai malheureusement donné l'accord pour accompagner des amis dans des chansons francaises selon un concert (cross over). Dommage. you may be interested in the image I created for André Raison, it shows the beginning of Trio en passacaille, from which Bach borrowed a theme for BWV 582. The image is on Commons, so maybe you'll be interested in updating the French article on Raison with it, and perhaps also some text from the article (I worked on it today and its a little bit bigger than it used to be).

Harpsichord diagram

Thank you for your helpful comments at the harpsichord talk page.

I'm a bit puzzled by a remark you made, namely you would like to erase the 4' hitchpin rail but don't know how to do it. Perhaps it's the svg version that you're don't know how to alter? Please note that it would be quite acceptable for you to fix the figure in its original graphics format (perhaps you still have it on your hard disk?). It's not required for WP figures to be in svg format, and doubtless someone will come along and convert whatever you do to svg.

• what in French we call "barre d'enfoncement" (the rail above the key tails which limit the key dip) and whose English name I do not remember.

I looked in Hubbard's book -- it appears to be called the "overrail".

• The correct picture is now on use on the French WP ; if you want, I could do the same correction on the English version.

I (and other Anglophone readers) would appreciate this very much.

• But you *must* load on Wikimedia Commons the picture of the music making angel of Minden cathedral.

Done.

• Maybe you noticed that I recently loaded on Commons a lot of historical harpsichord pictures : the ones I took in Musée de la Musique in Paris, as well as pictures from Flickr and other web sites.

I did notice -- they are very nice. I used a couple of them for Folding harpsichord.
