Cleveland[edit]
Cleveland was dissolved by SI 1995/187 and SI 1995/1747.
- County of Cleveland abolished
- Redcar and Cleveland renamed from Langbaurgh-on-Tees, made a county
- Hartlepool made a county
- Stockton and Tees made a county
- Middlesbrough made a county
The first SI didn't abolish Cleveland, just transferred all its functions to the districts and abolished the county county. It was abolished and the districts were made counties by the second.
Avon[edit]
Avon was dissolved by the Avon (Structural Change) Order 1995. SI 1995/493.
- County of Avon abolished
- Bath and North East Somerset from districts of Bath and Wansdyke, made a county
- South Gloucestershire from districts of Kingswood and Northavon, made a county
- North West Somerset renamed from Woodspring, made a county
- Bristol made a county
Hampshire[edit]
The Hampshire (Cities of Portsmouth and Southampton) (Structural Change) Order 1995, (SI 1995/1755) made Portsmouth and Southampton independent counties.
Leicestershire[edit]
Leicester and Rutland were made counties by The Leicestershire (City of Leicester and District of Rutland) (Structural Change) Order 1996. SI 1995/507.
