GPL not GNU[edit]

Though Maxima is released under the GPL, it is not sponsored by GNU, so it is not correct to call it "GNU Maxima". I corrected that. --Macrakis 21:33, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)

POSIX Compatible?[edit]

If Maxima can run on any POSIX-compliant OS, it should be capable of running on any of the WinNT line, sans Windows binaries.

Removed from article[edit]

an anon tried to add a link to Wikipedia:How to create graphs for Wikipedia articles. Not sure if it could be put in the article. — Omegatron 00:19, 20 September 2005 (UTC) It could be in wikibook about Maxima, but now there is no such book --Adam majewski (talk) 22:04, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GNU[edit]

Is it true that Maxima is not a GNU project and should not be linked as GNU Maxima ? Maybe it should be GSL Maxima or Maxima CAS ? --Adam majewski (talk) 14:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From http://www.gnu.org/software/maxima/maxima.html : "(Maxima is free software, but it is not a GNU package. However, the GNU web site has long had this page about it, so it will remain for reference.)". --Gwern (contribs) 20:08 1 March 2008 (GMT)
