This was placed on the main page, within the "disputed page" box, as opposed to on the talk page.
This article seems completely wrong. Alizarine is a chemical dye, nothing to do with iron and galls. In fact, alizarine ink was one of the modern inks that replaced iron-gall formula. cut and paste, don't know whose comment it was

The facts in this article appear to be correct. Modern alazarin is a synthetic version of Madder, a vegetable dye that is also known as "Alizarin"[1]. Madder/Alizarin has been used as a dye for millenia. "Alizarine Ink" was created in 1855 by Professor Leonhardi, of Dresden, by adding Madder ("Alazarin") to oak gall ink.JDowning 22:23, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
