I don't know if Grimmelshausen is the only source, but I have heard of this method of execution before, and considering the excesses of the Thirty Years' War and the general brutality of the time, it doesn't seem like too unlikely a concept.

According to this NPOV German website, boiling urine was among the excrements forcibly ingested. Should I add this?

- This redir should probably be deleted. Nothing links here now. There is now a "Schwedentrunk" article on the subject. Which seems appropriate to me, as the term seems to exist verifiably in German. On the other hand there doesn't seem to be any corresponding term like "Swedish cocktail" or "Swedish drink" in English. Which is why I renamed the article to the German term. The English terms seem to be the invention of the author. ("cocktail" in particular seems particularily suspect of being a neologism as it's very anachronistic) --BluePlatypus 20:56, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
